CHAPTER 94

094 Gold Swallowing System! Points Are Not Enough Again

Rock-type Pokémon resist Normal, Flying, Poison, and Fire-type moves while being super effective against Flying, Bug, Fire, and Ice types. However, they are weak to Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, and Grass.

A standard Tyranitar (Rock + Dark) gains additional resistances to Ghost and Dark-type moves while also becoming immune to Psychic attacks. However, it remains vulnerable to Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-type moves, with Fighting being a particularly severe four-times weakness.

But if Larvitar changes from a Rock + Ground Pokémon to a Rock + Ghost-type, this alters its battle dynamics significantly. Fighting-type moves, once a major weakness, now have no effect. Normal-type attacks also become ineffective. Additionally, it resists Poison and Bug moves, while gaining offensive advantages against Psychic and Ghost-types. The only real weaknesses are Ghost and Dark-type moves.

This shift minimizes Larvitar's vulnerabilities while maintaining decent offensive potential. However, it also means that when it eventually evolves into Tyranitar, it may struggle against standard versions of its species, as its Dark-typing would have given it an edge against Ghost-types.

Still, Qin Yun was more focused on another major detail this Desert Tyrant Larvitar retained access to all Tyranitar's moves and had exclusive skills and abilities.

Based on his understanding, these special abilities and unique techniques would likely become fully available upon evolution.

The Challenge of Training a Pseudo-Legendary

"Pseudo-legendary Pokémon take a long time to develop," Qin Yun muttered to himself, recalling data from the Pokédex.

For most Pokémon with two evolutionary stages, final evolution typically occurs in the mid-to-late elite ranks.

For those with three evolutionary stages, the first evolution tends to happen at peak entry level, and the final stage at peak elite level.

Starter Pokémon (Yūsan, meaning "three nobles") usually follow a faster evolution path one evolution at late entry stage, and another at mid-elite level.

Pseudo-legendaries, however, evolve much slower. Dratini, Larvitar, and Bagon often require reaching primary elite level to evolve once, and even at professional level, they may not yet reach their final form.

This made training them a long-term commitment.

"Before Larvitar evolves into Pupitar, its battle performance is quite underwhelming, with a base stat total of only 300."

Even after evolving into Pupitar, it still wouldn't be as strong as a fully evolved Charizard or Blaziken. Only after reaching its final form would it gain the overwhelming power of a pseudo-legendary.

In short, raising a Larvitar was a massive investment. Without Qin Yun's augmentation system, it would be nearly impossible to afford raising one properly.

A New Companion

"Yuki!"

Larvitar looked around with wide, curious eyes, surveying the world for the first time.

As soon as it spotted Qin Yun, its gaze locked onto him. Having just hatched, it instinctively felt a deep bond almost as if Qin Yun was its mother.

"Hello, little one."

Qin Yun smiled and reached out a hand.

Larvitar blinked, tilting its head, then cautiously brought its tiny claws to its mouth in confusion.

Qin Yun chuckled. "No, no, this is a handshake. It means we're partners. Just reach out and hold my hand like this."

After a moment of hesitation, Larvitar understood. A smile spread across its face as it suddenly leaped onto Qin Yun's arm, hugging him tightly while rubbing its cheek against him.

"Yuki! Yuki!!"

Caught off guard, Qin Yun staggered backward slightly.

"Whoa, you're heavy!"

Despite its small size, Larvitar already weighed over 140 pounds (65 kg). If he hadn't received physical enhancements from Pokémon bond feedback, his arm might have fractured from the impact.

Even so, he managed to hold Larvitar with a composed expression.

"If I went back to Earth with this physique, I could probably shatter world records in weightlifting," he joked.

Larvitar, however, was completely oblivious to his struggle. Its stomach let out a loud grumble.

"You're already hungry, huh?"

Qin Yun retrieved an Energy Root from his bag, a bitter yet nutritious food that Pokémon found revitalizing.

The moment Larvitar caught its scent, its eyes sparkled. It grabbed the root and happily munched away.

"Alright, you eat up. I have something to take care of."

Larvitar focused entirely on its meal, allowing Qin Yun to turn his attention to the system store.

The System Store: A Money Pit

"The Dawn Ring timer is almost up I need to make my purchases fast."

The next item caught his eye.

[Training Simulation Card] - 500 points

"Creates a dedicated training space for 48 hours. In this space, everything feels real, but no actual injuries occur. Pokémon do not experience fatigue. Ideal for move training."

"This is a great deal."

Two full days of intense training without fatigue would be equivalent to at least a week of normal training. In reality, Pokémon could only train moves for an hour or two per day before exhaustion set in.

Improving move proficiency was crucial. Qin Yun categorized move mastery into different stages:

Basic Mastery – The Pokémon has learned the move but struggles to use it effectively in battle.

Proficient – The Pokémon can execute the move reliably in combat with minimal wasted motion.

Advanced – The Pokémon can use the move creatively and adaptively, integrating it into battle strategies.

Most of his Pokémon had only reached the Proficient stage. His goal was to push them toward Advanced mastery.

He immediately bought the card.

A Powerful Move for Fomantis

Next, he spotted an attack perfect for Fomantis.

[Leaf Storm] - 800 points

"Unleashes a storm of razor-sharp leaves at the opponent. Extremely powerful but reduces the user's Special Attack after use."

"A high-risk, high-reward move. Perfect for Fomantis."

He made the purchase without hesitation.

---

Boosting Speed Permanently

The final item was an intriguing upgrade.

[Basic Agility Enhancement] - 400 points

"Permanently increases Pokémon's speed by 200 points."

Though it wasn't an instant power-up like a new move, boosting speed could be invaluable. Pokémon battles often came down to who could strike first.

He exchanged points for it as well.

---

Running Low on Points... Again

With these purchases, he had spent 1,700 points, leaving him with only 8,000 remaining.

Qin Yun sighed.

"This system is an absolute money pit…"

No matter how many points he earned, he always seemed to need more.

"No amount of wealth is ever enough to satisfy it."

Still, he couldn't deny the benefits. His Pokémon were growing at an incredible pace. With Larvitar joining his team and new training opportunities ahead, his journey was only getting started.
