Chapter 6

"Who was up there?" Gentry's voice was as dark as hell itself, sending shivers down Private Shaw's spine, leaving him speechless.

After a long pause, Shaw stammered:

"It... it was the missus, sir. I was patrolling the area when I saw her standing on the top floor with my own eyes."

"The next second, the whole building exploded, turning to rubble. No survivors..."

This time,

Gentry heard every word crystal clear.

But he refused to accept the bloody truth staring him in the face.

Instead, he chose self-deception.

Like a sword come to life, he lunged forward, grabbing Private Shaw by the shoulders, shaking him violently.

"Impossible... it can't be true. You're lying to me, aren't you?"

"Speak up! Who sent you to spy on me? How dare you fabricate such lies to my face!"

"Why would Briar even be at Centagon? She always stays at home like a good girl, never goes out, let alone to some damn mall!"
