Chapter 2: Carrie's Tragic Demise

Alexander didn't answer; he strode straight toward the woman he'd resented for ten long years.

Carrie's brows furrowed even deeper. "What do you mean by staying silent? If you don't speak up, I'm leaving."

With that, Carrie stood up. By then, Alexander was right in front of her. In one swift motion, he reached out and clamped his hand around her throat.

Carrie—who had once enjoyed Alexander's constant attentiveness—never would have imagined that he was capable of such brutality. She struggled desperately, but her efforts were in vain; Alexander's strength far exceeded that of the pampered Carrie.

A low, measured voice resonated as Alexander began to recite:

"March 16, Year 478, Modu Ultra-Modern Hotel – 53,239 Yuan."

Carrie barely registered the meaning behind his words; all she saw was the gleam of a sharp dagger.

"March 29, Year 478, Modu Kai Emperor Hotel – 109,984 Yuan."

Alexander continued, his tone as calm as if he were reading from memory. Suddenly, it dawned on Carrie—these were the records of the hotel stays with Derek!

She wanted to explain, to beg for mercy, but she wasn't given a chance.

"April 13, Year 478, Confusion Bar – 409,999 Yuan."

Desperation flooded Carrie's eyes.

"April 25, Year 478, Modu Ultra-Modern Hotel – 84,320 Yuan."

"April 29, ..." Alexander's recitation, each word already indelibly engraved in his mind, continued on.

Before long, he shoved her forcefully onto a chair. In that moment, Carrie's eyes brimmed with despair, regret, confusion, and venom.

Bending down, Alexander picked up the phone that Carrie had dropped. Using her fingerprints, he effortlessly unlocked it. The screen displayed a chat window:

Carrie: "Hehe, I can't wait to come see you."Derek: "Did you tell Alexander? It wouldn't be nearly as fun if you didn't."Carrie: "I did—he even thought I was really going to tutor someone."Derek: "Then what about the birthday gift you were supposed to prepare for him?"Carrie: "Don't worry, it's ready. And don't forget that bag I had my eye on!"

Below the chat was a video. Recognizing it, Alexander tapped to play the clip and held the screen up for Carrie to see. In the video, Carrie appeared before the camera and said:

"Alexander, happy birthday. Have you ever thought about it? As the campus belle of Modu University, why would I ever be interested in an orphan like you—someone with nothing except a face? If it weren't for Derek's insistence, I wouldn't even spare you a glance. But I do have to thank you, because without you, I'd never have caught Master Derek's eye and made all this money."

That brief video clip sent Carrie into a stunned silence. She couldn't fathom that the video she had secretly recorded just minutes ago was now being recited word for word.

"Hahaha!" Alexander laughed.

A head hit the floor.

Alexander sat down on the ground. "At last—I did it! Ten years… a full ten years of torment! But it isn't over yet! I still have Derek hiding in his estate, and the rest of the Derek family in the capital to deal with!"

Just then, a mechanical, synthesized voice sounded in his ear:

"Ding—congratulations, host, you have successfully been reborn ten years in the past, activating the [Apocalypse Game Cheat System]."

Alexander glanced at his phone. The time read 6:00. How was that possible? The Apocalypse Game was supposed to descend globally at 7:00, transforming the world into a survival game. The entire system—and all its data—was only meant to materialize at that moment. And this cheat…? He'd never heard of it before.

"Ding—Apocalypse Game Cheat System: capable of cracking game data to provide the host with an enhanced gaming experience.System verification complete. Please draw your first super cheat."

Alexander analyzed the message rapidly. Reborn? This system was his reward for being reborn? And it was described as so powerful—it could even crack the Apocalypse Game's data! Although skeptical, he ventured, "Draw my first super cheat."

"Ding—drawing your first super cheat…"

"Ding—congratulations, player, you have obtained the super cheat: Absolute Drop Rate."

"Ding—Absolute Drop Rate: Increases the drop rate of all items from zombies from 1% to 100%."
