Alexander only needed to transfer his consciousness into the zombie cat to precisely retrace its path. In doing so, he finally discovered the exact location of the Li family's secret passage. They were clever indeed—those who had fled earlier were nothing more than decoys meant to mislead him. The zombie cat had initially chosen to follow them, but upon detecting no trace of Derek's aura, it turned and began tracking Derek instead. In the end, the zombie cat found that Derek and Edgar were hidden in the villa's basement. Little did Derek know that the zombie cat had completely pinpointed their location, while he anxiously hoped Alexander would never find them.
Yet Alexander did not immediately hunt down Derek and Edgar. With the zombie cat keeping watch over them for now, his current objective was to clear out the remaining twenty-plus individuals in the secret passage.
Inside a Safe Room in the Li Estate's Basement
"Edgar, what are we going to do? What do we do!" Derek cried out in panic—so terrified that even an unmistakable stench of fear clung to him. It seemed that the Li family heir was already so frightened he'd lost control of his bowels.
"Young Master, please don't panic. Ron and his Hunter Mercenary Team can hold off that killer—and we've even dispatched others into the secret passage. He wouldn't expect us to be here," Edgar tried to reassure him.
Despite Edgar's soothing words, a deep unease gnawed at him. Could it really end so simply? Could this mysterious killer—someone who had infiltrated the Li Estate—really be fooled by such petty tricks?
"It must be Alexander's doing! It has to be him—first, he had someone kill Carrie, and now he's coming for me," Derek insisted, his voice trembling with anger."Then why does he know all this in advance? And where did he find such a formidable killer?" he seethed, gritting his teeth.
"Could it be that Lance left Alexander a contingency plan?" Edgar ventured."No way—when we killed Lance, we practically uprooted the entire Lin family. There's no way Lance could have left any backup," Derek snapped."If it weren't for that commander insisting we preserve one last vestige of the Lin bloodline, Alexander would have been dead long ago!""Otherwise, I wouldn't have used that bitch Carrie to drive Alexander into despair—I would have had him killed already," Derek continued bitterly.
Everything was far more twisted than Derek had imagined. Alexander had always believed he was being targeted by the Li family simply because he once embarrassed Derek and Carrie. As the conflicts escalated, Li family agents began hunting him down. Little did Derek know, it was all part of his own elaborate design—from Carrie's relationship with Alexander to her later betrayal, all orchestrated to break Alexander's spirit and drive him to complete mental collapse.
"I see…"Suddenly, from outside the safe room's metal door, Alexander's voice echoed:"Alexander—yes, that's my voice!" Derek shrieked."It turns out I've been on your radar all along. Who knew there were so many stories woven into my life?" Alexander continued coolly from outside.
"Alexander, I tell you, you should have died at my hands! I should have arranged for your execution from the start," Derek threatened, his voice trembling with fear as the metal door groaned under Alexander's prying."I'm quite curious—who is this Lance? And what do you mean by the Li family uprooting the entire Lin family?" Alexander asked calmly as he worked at the door."Hahahaha! You orphan—you don't even know your father's name! You deserve it!""Back then, when Lance insisted on reporting my father just before his promotion…""…that single act completely derailed the Li family's years of planning. For that, your entire Lin family should have been wiped out!""You should be grateful—are you? You're the only bastard left in the Lin family!""I'm just curious—who is it that would be willing to help you? Because if it were only you, I could easily dispatch any bodyguard," Derek ranted.Hearing the scraping of the door being forced open, Derek grew increasingly frantic. He could only hurl insults and shout to vent his terror, convinced that Alexander had enlisted some accomplice."Your words mean nothing—whether you speak or not, I will reduce your entire Li family to ashes," Alexander declared coolly. He no longer cared about the details—whether he had become an orphan or whether his parents were killed by the Li family no longer mattered. All that mattered was the deep-seated blood feud between him and the Li family.
No sooner had Alexander finished speaking than Derek burst out laughing—and even Edgar, who stood beside him, wore an expression of utter disdain. How laughable it was that Alexander, acting alone, dared to topple the mighty Li family—a colossal force that had reigned over Dragon Kingdom for over a thousand years—simply because he didn't know where his mysterious accomplice came from. Even if Derek and Edgar knew they were doomed, they never believed that Alexander stood a chance of destroying the Li family.
Then, at that moment, the safe room's metal door finally creaked under the strain. Slowly, Alexander pried it open. Edgar shifted; he had been waiting for this moment. The instant the door began to open, Edgar dashed toward it like a sword released from its scabbard—so fast that it was nearly impossible to see his movements, a feat uncharacteristic of a man in his sixties. As he ran, bursts of golden light shimmered around his hands. But Alexander had long anticipated this move. Watching Edgar charge, Alexander remained completely unruffled.
Suddenly, a leopard-sized zombie cat sprang out from behind Alexander, using its body to intercept one of Edgar's powered punches. After absorbing the blow, the zombie cat dissipated into nothingness in midair—its 30-minute summoning time having expired.By then, the metal door had been pried open wide enough for Alexander alone. He strode decisively through and positioned himself directly in front of Edgar.Edgar, emerging from his daze, compared the masked figure before him with Alexander—and found them identical in build and features.Edgar gasped in shock, "You're Alexander! The killer we've heard about—was it all you, from start to finish?"Hidden in a corner, Derek, his body trembling, stammered in disbelief, "Impossible! It can't be just you—how could Alexander have grown this strong?""Alone is enough," Alexander replied coolly.
