Chapter 7: What Is It Gonna Be?

He suddenly leaned in close to her, close to her ears, Vivienne could feel his warm breath and she was questioning what he was about to do, "Don't move," Adrian whispered to her ear, his breath continuously engulfing Vivienne. She wanted to push him away but her thoughts were floating elsewhere, it was like all the danger she felt before, sipped away within Adrian's presence and she blushed.

Before she could fall in deep into enjoying this little lovey-dovey moment she was having within herself, she quickly came back to her senses and asked Adrian, feigning a serious look, "Why, What's happening?"

"You're being watched Ms. Lancaster," he said looking at her intensely, his eyes tracing her magnificent hairline from her head and down to the side of her mouth as he took every breath of the scent that was coming off her neck, he almost...kissed...her...neck. It's just hard to say.

"Who?" Asked Vivienne in a tensed tone. She was thinking they were the guys following her before, the people working for her stepmother until Adrian interjected her thoughts, "It's the Whitmore's men, Ms. Lancaster," he said almost with a seductive tone.

For Christ's sake, she was in danger, and all Vivienne was thinking about in this moment was pinning Adrian to the...let that thought wash away. She had to get a hold of herself, this was so unprofessional.

Then Adrian backed off very slowly, and Vivienne was finally breathing more normally.

"See that grey car over there?" Pointed Adrian to show Vivienne the grey car that was facing them hideously parked between two huge warehouses, one would mistake it for a wreck. "They have been camping here even before you arrived."

'Were the Whitmore's also planning to kill her' she asked herself inwardly. These were people she knew for a very long time, even if the fight for wealth was what was making them behave this way, it was far too much of a hassle, she reasoned.

"I think your phone has been tapped, Ms. Lancaster, you need to change it immediately," Said Adrian. It sounded more like a demand than a request as he looked at her, locking their eyes and his didn't waver.

"How do you know all of this Mr. Blackwood?" she asked with a confused expression as to why he even knew this in the first place. How did he know those guys got there before her? That was a question that she deserved an answer to.

"I do not mean to brag but you do realize I own the the biggest company that specializes in high-tech," he smirked.

Her eyes dropped from his eyes to his lips and she stared a little bit too much and Adrian slightly smiled, it wasn't that obvious, but when Vivienne saw the shift on his lips, her cheeks flushed as she quickly looked sideways, pretending to add on what he said, "I do, but I didn't realize you were this thorough Mr. Blackwood."

"What I'm trying to say Ms. Lancaster, is that you are in danger and since I'm going to be your husband by tomorrow evening, I MUST protect you." he added with a possessive tone. The delivery of his words sent shivers down her back like cold ice sliding down her back.

'Tomorrow?' did he already set the date for their wedding?

Actually Vivienne didn't mind, they had already discussed this back at the engagement party and they agreed the sooner the wedding the better. But would their wedding really benefit them? Was it necessary? Did Adrian want it to happen because of the main agenda she had or did Adrian have a different motive? Those were the questions she was hellbent on finding out.

Suddenly, Adrian leaned in too close to Vivienne, like he was towering over her while she was still lost in her thoughts and this made Vivienne fall back on the remaining space of the backseat chair, Adrian was literally over her with both his hands keeping him steady above her, then he came down slowly, closer and closer to Vivienne's face as if he was going to kiss her but he swerved his face to the side of hers and moved close to her ears, "And by the way, your driver is also your step-mother's spy, you might want to deal with him before I do."

As soon as he finished, he lifted himself up and left Vivienne's car to go to his and he left the premise as soon as he came.

Vivienne was left placing her hand to her chest to feel the rhythm of her heartbeat until she absentmindedly lit her phone only to realize that she was getting late for the board meeting that was just minutes ago from happening.

"Let's go Donald," she told her driver. Donald had been their driver for along time even before her step-mother and step-sister came into their life, she didn't understand why Donald would oblige to betraying her when he has been loyal to them for the longest time before those two bitches showed up in their lives, but she was definitely going to get it out from him.

--

The drive to Lancaster enterprises wasn't long, until Vivienne arrived, she was either going to lose her father's company or regain it back, since she already filed a motion that Damian her ex-fiancé tricked her into signing a contract to give up her father's company to her step-mother and step-sister, the feeling made her sick and so disgusted, how could she? She thought she was smarter than this and this made her even more embarrassed than she thought. Imagine what the board members will think if she says that she was tricked into giving up the company. They will probably conclude she isn't fit to run a company if she's easily manipulated.

The Lancaster Enterprises Headquarters was a towering 80-story skyscraper located in the heart of the city's financial district. The building was a plaster that emanated prestige and elegance And the boardroom was located on the 72nd floor, Vivienne had no time to waste, Her driver Donald, opened her door and she hurriedly alighted from the car, "Thank you, Donald," she said. "Welcome Miss," he replied.

Vivienne was hurriedly climbing the steps to the Lancaster building when an earth shattering scream broke out, it wasn't on the Ground floor because she hadn't entered the lobby yet, before she reached the automatic sliding doors to the building, sounds of shattered glass reached her ear and she turned immediately on her black heels as her heart pounded rapidly.

Immediately she turned, a loud thud was heard, blood was trickling down from someone's hand who seemed to be wearing a suit, they didn't move, their eyes were open and as Vivienne came closer to identify the victim a burst of shock, choked her, threatening to completely cut her breath out, it was Damian Whitmore.
