Prologue

"In the early days of the world, our vast ocean was filled with magical energy. This energy manifested itself in the form of various elements all swirling in a harmony that only the ancients could comprehend. One fateful day, a pirate crew, which I was a member of, stumbled on the very source of these powers. It was a glowing blue orb in the middle of the ocean. A friend of mine, who used to go by the name of Anicetus, struck the orb out of curiosity. As a result, it broke and scattered elemental powers, bestowing them to different pirates from all around the globe. Anicetus was not as lucky though, he was corrupted with dark energy, a force of no limits that twisted his very essence, transforming him into the Evil Lord he is today. Not only that, but he also discovered the Cave Trolls army and by leading them he has conquered the south part of our world, leaving a path of devastation and despair," a fifty year old man, with flowing dark gray beard and hair, says.

He pauses, his voice laden with memories of a tumultuous past. He stares thoughtfully into the horizon. He is dressed in the garb of a high-ranking pirate. A wide-brimmed captain's hat sits atop his head, its dark color contrasting with the intricate gold trim. His blue coat is adorned with gold buttons and embellishments. A decorative sash crosses his chest, and a sheathed sword hangs at his hip.

He is standing in the balcony of a castle and is addressing a young girl, wearing a flowing white blouse that is dancing with the wind and a flowing skirt. Her hair is pulled back into a high ponytail.

"I already know all of this, Captain Demetrius. Why are you telling me again?" the girl questions.

"Because the world is about to change, Jean, and if we are to influence the future, we must first relearn the past," Demetrius replies.

He takes a step closer to her, gripping the balcony railing, the salty air ruffling his coat.

"You and your sister are no longer going to be the only elementals in my crew. I have found others, and I will set out to recruit them," he continues. "I wish it had not come to this, but Anicetus has forced my hand," he says stoically. "I will take the ship and sail. I trust you can manage things here while I am gone, Jean?"

A glint of fierce resolve sparks with Jean.

"The Evil Lord's forces are currently blocked at the Mutiny River, Captain. I will see that he goes no further in your absence," Jean answers quickly.

"Very good," Demetrius replies with a proud smile. "While I am away, I will be sending some very important guests towards you. Oh, and say hello to your little sister for me," Demetrius says.

The captain turns to leave, and Jean watches him as he strides away. She cannot help but wonder if they will really be able to protect the world and forge a future that will not fall in the shadow of the Evil Lord.
