VISION OR CONFUSION

Sunmi's sleep was fractured that night , filled with fragmented images of snaring teeth.she bolted awake, her heart pounding.seeking a moment of calm, she went downstairs for water. But as she approached the kitchen, something drew her attention outside.A flickering orange glow, like a distant fire, pulsating through the darkness. Compelled by curiosity, she opened the back door.

Stepping out into the night.the familiar backyard was gone. Instead she stood at the edge of a dense, shadowy forest, the air heavy with scent of damp earth. Fear coiled in her stomach. She turned towards the house to find the back door was gone. Replaced by an impenetrable wall of trees.

Panic immediately set it . She stumbled forward trying to make sense of the disorienting shift in reality. her eyes darting around desperately. The eerie orange glow grew stronger.pulling her into the forest.Then through the trees, she saw it, her car.

The crumpled metal glinting under the moonlight. She lurched desperately to touch it, before she could reach it, a blinding white light sliced through the darkness.

She cried out, shielding her eyes. The beam flickered and died, and sunmi was back in her kitchen, tap dripping into the sink , a jolt of confused fear rushed through her.

She ran to her room and locked the doors behind her . She crawled into her bed and covers her self with her duvet until she fell asleep.

8:00 Am the next day

By the time sunmi arrived at shrill, the morning assembly was over. Tolu was waiting outside for sunmi and immediately she saw her she ran to hug her." Oh my God girl when we're you planning on arriving " Tolu removed the bag from Sunmi's back and carried it.

" Hope I didn't keep you waiting for long. And hey were is Emeka ?" Sunmi said looking around .

" well he got tired of waiting then he went inside" Tolu replied then they walked into the class and took their seats.

The door swung open as a tall boy with an athlete build , he had dark wavy hair and big brown eyes who could get lost in walked into the class. " hey girls" he said as he walked towards Sunmi and Tolu." Hey Emeka " the girls replied in unison.he pats Sunmi in the cheeks playfully and kissed Tolu. He sat in a nearby table then spoke " hey sunmi hope you're good ?, I heard what happened ". " I'm fine it's just a minor accident " Sunmi said trying to reassure them.

" minor?, but I heard you driver died and your car mysteriously went missing" . Emeka said. The Tolu smacked the back of his head " can you not, can't you see she's still recovering and you're asking such questions" . " I'm sorry. I don't mean to " Emeka said running the spot he was hit.

The door swung open again and the teacher walked in with a boy beside her . The boy was dark skinned with long dreads that were neatly packed behind .he was also average height.

He introduced himself as Moses Thompson and he was assigned a sit at the back of the class . Sunmi turned to the back and smiled , her smile hinted that she knew him . " Moses hey man, I thought you relocated abroad or something?,it's been a while." Sunmi whispered .

" yeah I did until a week ago my parents wanted me to finish my studies in Nigeria so here i am" Moses said and both smiled.

Sunmi was trying her best not to fall asleep. as the lecture was going on sunmi felt more drowsy her eyes began to close shut . When she heard something she wasn't sure at fort the it got louder a voice calling out to sunmi "find it! , find it" like a cold whisper in her ear.

She turned back and the familiar environment disappeared again she stood up from her sit as her class room slowly warped into the forest. She was immediately enveloped in fear . As she looked around trying to get familiar with her environment she spotted something from a distance like a structure.

She approached it with caution. As she got closer to it , it became clear, it was her car,her missing car . She ran towards it,but as she reaches it suddenly went ablaze .

"Nooooooooooooooooooooo!"

She screamed as the forest suddenly shifted back to the class and everyone was staring at her weirdly.she stood up and ran to the bathroom her face flustered, her cheeks red with embarrassment.

Sunmi heard the faint sound of someone crying , it was coming from one of the stalls . She approached it gently and knocked on it.

" Are you okay in there?" Sunmi said as she gently pushed the door open and found her classmate Mirabel . Mirabel was an orphan who attended the school on scholarship, but she was the smartest person in the whole school.

"Mirabel, what happened " sunmi asked raising Mirabel up. " My foster dad is sick and I don't have enough money for the hospital bill ". Mirabel said as she wiped her tears with the edge of her sleeves. Sunmi thought for a while, then spoke" well I might have a way , so I'm not that good a student and you're the smartest person in our school so you can tutor me while my parents pay you. I mean if you're okay with it". Sunmi said with a reassuring smile." Really oh my God , thanks so much " Mirabel said as sunmi leads her out of the toilet forgetting the reason she came there .
