Chapter 4: Signs of an Escape
...
"Although today's actions were a bit risky, it seems everything was worth it."
After Scrimgeour, Tonks, and the other Aurors finished processing the scene and left, George lay down on the dark wizard's comfortable bed and couldn't help but sigh.
Not to mention the lifetime savings the old wizard had accumulated in Gringotts, just the potion shop and the magical herbs inside were already a considerable fortune.
Perhaps these assets weren't much compared to the true wealth of the wizarding elite, but for a young wizard, they were more than enough.
It was like an adult owning a million dollars—it might not be particularly impressive, but if a middle schooler had a million dollars in pocket money, they would easily outshine most students in the country.
With this large sum of money, many things would become much easier.
He had considered whether, for safety's sake, he should sell the potion shop after inheriting the estate and move into the Leaky Cauldron.
But after some thought, he decided against it.
In the future, he would definitely need a private place like this to study magic that couldn't be discovered.
Moreover, this potion shop might have many uses in the future. Selling it would be easy, but buying it back would be difficult.
"This child's body really does look thin. I'll need to eat more and build it up."
Sitting up, George wandered around the bedroom for a while before stopping in front of the mirror to take a good look at his new body in this world.
From the moment he woke up, he had been busy planning how to kill the old wizard, so he hadn't had the chance to properly examine this body.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, a high nose bridge—the facial features weren't bad, but the body was quite thin due to long-term malnutrition and suffering.
However, this wasn't a big problem. With proper care, it could recover.
"At least my inner self isn't this weak."
George bent his legs and jumped, easily reaching over three meters high and touching the ceiling.
This wasn't because he was a wizard and had such incredible jumping power. While wizards' bodies were indeed different from ordinary people's, with superior resilience and recovery abilities, their strength was no different from that of a normal Muggle unless they had special bloodlines, like Hagrid.
The reason George was so special was that this body not only possessed the mutant abilities of his Marvel world body but also inherited its physical strength.
In other words, his current strength was the combined strength of Dora's eleven-year-old body and the eighteen-year-old artificial mutant Test Subject No. 757.
Although Test Subject No. 757's abilities didn't enhance physical strength like Beast or Wolverine's, it was still the body of a normal eighteen-year-old adult.
Moreover, during the past three months in the Marvel world, he hadn't just trained his abilities—he had also undergone physical and close combat training, making his physique stronger than that of an average eighteen-year-old.
To put it in rough numbers, if Dora's body could punch with 50 pounds of force and Test Subject No. 757's body could punch with 200 pounds, then Dora and No. 757's combined strength would be around 250 pounds.
Of course, this was just a rough estimate. The actual measurements might differ.
For Test Subject No. 757, an extra 50 pounds wasn't particularly noticeable, but for Dora, gaining an additional 200 pounds of strength was a massive change.
Especially since Dora's body was very light, weighing only about 50 pounds. Suddenly gaining the full physical enhancements of Test Subject No. 757 made the difference even more pronounced. With a light jump, he could clear over three meters.
His agility was now comparable to that of a feline.
"I'm basically a super kid among children."
After roughly checking his body, George began a thorough search of the old wizard's bedroom.
He wanted to see if he could find any forbidden dark magic books or research notes the old wizard might have hidden, which would allow him to learn some powerful dark magic in advance.
However, the results disappointed him. He didn't find any special magic books, just the normal ones that could be bought in any bookstore.
Thinking about it, this made sense. Shops in Knockturn Alley were inspected monthly, so even if the old wizard had such books, he wouldn't dare to keep them openly at home.
"Never mind. Let this body rest for now. It's been a long day."
Not finding anything useful, George washed up briefly and lay down on the old wizard's luxurious bed, letting this body enter sleep mode.
At the same time, he shifted his main focus back to his original body in the Marvel world.
In the Marvel world, it was already daytime, and it was time for the usual training.
"It should be soon. I need to hurry up and learn a few useful spells!"
After finishing his morning training, George ate his lunch expressionlessly, but his eyes were subtly observing the group of mutant children gathered nearby.
Earlier, while passing through the hallway, he had seen a female nurse being scolded harshly by the facility's supervisor.
The reason seemed to be that the nurse had prepared a cake to celebrate a collective birthday for the mutant children, who had never had a proper birthday before.
If he remembered correctly, not long after this incident, the nurse would have a change of heart and help the mutant children escape.
The afternoon proceeded with the usual training, and after his original body went to sleep at night, George shifted his focus back to the Harry Potter world.
It was morning there.
After getting up and tidying himself, he prepared a hearty breakfast and picked up the Daily Prophet delivered by owl. As he enjoyed his meal, he read through the newspaper the old wizard had subscribed to.
The food at the experimental base was nutritious, but the taste left much to be desired.
And before, when the dark wizard was still alive, Dora had struggled to even get enough to eat, let alone enjoy the taste.
"Gilderoy Lockhart, internationally renowned figure and author, recipient of the Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honorary Member of the Anti-Dark Magic League, and five-time winner of the Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award,
will be signing copies of his autobiography, *Magical Me*, at Flourish and Blotts from 12:30 to 4:30 PM on August 21st..."
Looking at the photo of the flamboyant wizard in forget-me-not blue robes in the Daily Prophet, George couldn't help but sigh.
"If only I had come a year earlier, I could have been in the same year as the Golden Trio. Maybe I'd even have been sorted into the same house and dorm."
That's right, it wasn't 1991 but 1992—Harry Potter's second year at Hogwarts. George would be starting a year later than Harry.
Being with the trio had its pros and cons. The downside was that he might get dragged into many events, which could interfere with his magical studies.
The upside was that he knew about these events in advance. If he handled them well, they wouldn't be too dangerous, and he might even gain some extra benefits.
