Chapter 28: The Rise of the Overachiever
Was George's body in this world considered a genius?
Certainly not. Whether it was memory or comprehension, his abilities were quite average.
In contrast, his main body in the Marvel world, which had inherited Professor X's genes, could indeed be considered a genius in terms of memory and comprehension.
If that were all, he wouldn't have the confidence to become the most talented and extraordinary student in Hogwarts' history.
His confidence stemmed from two key points.
First, he didn't just have one brain. While he had only one consciousness, after mastering the ability to control both bodies simultaneously, he could effectively operate two brains for memory, analysis, and comprehension.
For example, if his alternate self in the Harry Potter world encountered a math problem, it might take twenty seconds to solve it mentally.
But if his main body in the Marvel world also joined in the calculation, the two brains working together could solve it in less than ten seconds.
Similarly, when studying or learning a spell, having two brains working in tandem was far more effective than one. This already put him on par with some of the top geniuses.
To this end, he had even adjusted his main body's sleep schedule. In the future, while his alternate self attended classes during the day, his main body would stay awake at night in the Marvel world, acting as a second brain to enhance learning efficiency, and then catch up on sleep during the day.
Second, in the days leading up to the start of term, he had done something else.
Using the supercomputer in the mutant school's basement, he had input all the books and textbooks he had read in the Harry Potter world into the system.
He also planned to record all the knowledge from his classes and the books in the school library.
While having two brains working together made him a top-tier genius, it didn't grant him perfect memory.
Not even the greatest wizards in the magical world, legendary as they were, could remember every word of every book they had read.
But now, with all the content stored in the supercomputer, he could simply search for keywords, and the relevant information would instantly appear.
As for security, not only was the supercomputer completely offline, but even if the information were leaked, it would be useless without wizard blood. In fact, most people would likely dismiss the magical books as nonsense.
So, in future classes, whenever a teacher asked a question he couldn't recall, he could quickly search the supercomputer for the answer, ensuring he scored full marks.
In exams, any theoretical questions would be as easy as an open-book test.
Over the next seven years, he was destined to be one of the school's top students.
Why go to such lengths?
Of course, it was to gain access to more resources and better magic. Only by excelling could he earn more privileges.
If Hermione hadn't been exceptional, she wouldn't have been given a Time-Turner.
If Voldemort hadn't been extraordinary, he wouldn't have gained the admiration of so many wizards, the favor of his teachers, or mastered so many powerful dark spells.
So, George aimed to excel in every way.
Even if this made Dumbledore see him as another Voldemort, it didn't matter.
Given Dumbledore's nature, as long as George didn't commit any crimes, no matter how much he resembled Voldemort, the worst he'd face would be increased vigilance and monitoring. Dumbledore wouldn't preemptively eliminate him.
Besides, if we're talking about resembling Voldemort, how many top Slytherin students didn't?
"How do you think they'll sort us into houses?
Could it be some kind of test? I've only read a lot of magical history; I haven't studied anything else."
Colin looked slightly uneasy.
Young wizards from Muggle families typically had no magical foundation. If the sorting involved a test, he wouldn't stand a chance.
"Ron told me it's a really scary test, but I don't believe it. The school wouldn't do anything dangerous to students.
If it were, I doubt Ron would have passed."
Ginny seemed unfazed, confident that she was far braver than her timid older brother.
Luna, as dreamy as ever, said:
"Dad didn't tell me exactly how the sorting works, but he said it's very simple, and we'll be placed in the house that suits us best. There's no need to worry."
"Oh, that's a relief. Which house do you all want to be in?"
Colin visibly relaxed and grew excited.
"I want to be in Gryffindor. Harry Potter is in Gryffindor, and I heard the greatest wizard, Dumbledore, is also from Gryffindor."
"I want to be in Gryffindor too. All my brothers are in Gryffindor."
Ginny's cheeks flushed slightly as she spoke.
The real reason, of course, was that her crush, Harry Potter, was in Gryffindor.
"Any house is fine."
Luna and George answered simultaneously.
"Ahhh!!!"
At that moment, a scream erupted in the room as a group of ghosts floated through the walls, startling the young wizards.
The ghosts laughed and joked as they commented on the students, but when Professor McGonagall appeared, they quickly scattered and disappeared.
"Now, form a single line and follow me."
Professor McGonagall spoke sternly, leading the young wizards out of the room and toward the Great Hall.
"It's truly magnificent."
As the group entered the Great Hall, George's eyes lit up.
The first thing that caught his attention was the thousands of magical candles floating in mid-air, followed by the breathtaking enchanted ceiling that mimicked a starry night sky.
Below, four long tables represented the four houses, each filled with students from all six grades.
The tables were adorned with golden plates and goblets.
At the far end of the hall was a raised table where the teachers sat.
The oldest and most prominent figure there was undoubtedly Dumbledore, flanked by Professors Flitwick, Sprout, Lockhart, and others.
However, he didn't see Professor Snape, the head of Slytherin.
Recalling the timeline, he remembered that Snape was likely patrolling the castle, trying to catch Harry and Ron, who had already made the news.
Dobby, the Malfoy family's house-elf, fearing that Harry would face danger from Voldemort's diary at Hogwarts, had sealed the entrance to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters when Harry and Ron tried to enter.
Missing the Hogwarts Express, the two had no choice but to fly Arthur Weasley's enchanted car to Hogwarts.
Unfortunately, Ron's poor driving skills led to them forgetting to activate the car's invisibility booster at takeoff, resulting in numerous Muggles witnessing a flying car—a story that had made the front page of the *Daily Prophet*.
At this moment, Harry and Ron had likely arrived at the school but missed the Sorting Ceremony.
Glancing around the Great Hall's windows, George spotted two boys peeking in from outside, only to be quickly dragged away by a pair of large hands.
"Poor kids. I'll mourn for you for two seconds!"
With Snape catching Harry and Ron red-handed, things were bound to get rough for them.
Because Lily was Harry's mother, Snape would protect him even at the cost of his own life.
But because James was Harry's father, Snape also genuinely disliked him.
