Chapter 335: The Book of the Dead
"What a terrifying card!"
Feeling time rewind to twenty-four hours earlier, George couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
Among all the Clow Cards, the Time Card was the one he cared about most.
The other cards—if you had strength, you could resist them; even if you couldn't win, you could still escape.
But the Time Card directly froze your time. If you had no research on time magic, you would be completely defenseless, with no means to retaliate.
"I probably can't study it now, let's leave it for later."
Ignoring the effects caused by the Time Card, he continued researching the Thunder Card. By now, he had completely mastered all the Lei family's thunder techniques and could further analyze the Thunder Card.
As for the Time Card, Sakura and Syaoran would go and capture it. And if everything went right, it would also be the first Clow Card that Syaoran captured. If George truly wanted to study it, he could simply take it from Syaoran.
Sure enough, after time rewound for three consecutive days, Syaoran and Sakura sealed the Time Card together. Because Syaoran contributed the most this time, the Clow Card automatically ended up in his hands.
While his clone in this world focused hard on researching the Thunder Card, in the world of the magician apprentices, George's panda clone had already picked up the nesting doll that sealed Morgana's soul.
Currently, his magic level had long surpassed level 1000, even beyond Merlin and Morgana in this world, making him the most powerful magician in history.
He had already grasped the essence of lightning, and the power of his lightning magic had greatly increased—perfect for countering the magicians of this world.
Morgana was no longer much of a threat to him.
In addition, he had completely learned all of Merlin and Morgana's magic, and could easily separate Morgana's soul from Veronica's body.
So he decided to release Morgana today and uncover the secrets of the Resurrection Spell and the Book of the Dead from her mind.
"Apparate!"
Taking advantage of David going on a date with his girlfriend and Balthazar heading to a bar for drinks, George picked up the nesting doll and instantly teleported to a deserted island in the ocean.
His goal was the Book of the Dead—it was best not to let Balthazar and David know, to avoid unnecessary complications.
"Unseal!"
Placing the sealed doll at the center of a carefully drawn magic circle, George extended his chubby panda paw and slapped the formation. The unsealing array activated, and the doll's lid slowly opened, releasing a surge of powerful black magic.
Moments later, a beautiful woman in a long dress began to take form.
"Finally! I'm finally free from that damn seal!"
The woman shouted in excitement, then stared intently at George, confusion showing on her face.
"Who are you? Where is Horvath?"
She had expected Horvath to be the one who unsealed her, not a bear—let alone a giant panda from China.
"Horvath? He's still sealed."
George looked up and down at Morgana, who was occupying Veronica's body, and smiled.
This woman's magic power was indeed strong, but compared to him now, still far inferior.
"Useless fool, sealed again. But to think that the inheritor of my Morgana line in the mortal world would be… a panda."
Morgana examined George as well, but quickly lost interest.
"A panda is a panda. Since you unsealed me, you've made a great contribution. Once I rule the world, you'll be the most honored panda on Earth, worshipped by all!"
She looked around, then frowned:
"Why hasn't the Resurrection Spell formation been prepared in advance?
Forget it. You're just a panda—being able to unseal me is already impressive enough.
Once we reach a human city, I'll prepare the formation myself."
"You're quite kind. Unfortunately, I didn't unseal you to help you rule the world."
Suddenly, lightning beyond the fifth level exploded from George's body and surged toward Morgana, who was inhabiting Veronica.
Caught off guard by the panda's ambush, Morgana had no time to react before she was engulfed by the intense lightning, instantly paralyzing her body.
Electricity was the most feared element by magicians in this world because it disrupted the flow of magical energy in their bodies, preventing them from casting spells.
At Morgana's level, ordinary electricity was nothing to fear—but the lightning George released was simply too powerful. Even she couldn't break free immediately.
"Soul Seizure!"
George locked eyes with Morgana, pressing his paw against her forehead. The Soul Seizure and psychic abilities activated simultaneously, forcefully probing deep into her soul for memories.
It took him a full ten minutes to dig into the depths of Morgana's soul and find the memories related to the Book of the Dead, including the full details of the Resurrection Spell that could revive souls of the dead and build an undead army.
The Resurrection Spell didn't truly bring the dead back to life. Rather, it was closer to necromancy—it simply pulled the soul of the deceased back into the world of the living, turning them into undead beings under the caster's control.
The undead retained abilities similar to those they had in life.
Of course, it depended on the case. If the person was a magician, their magic wouldn't degrade much after resurrection. But for a warrior, it depended on the body.
If hundreds of years had passed and the body had turned to bones, the result would naturally be much weaker. But if the person had only recently died, there wouldn't be much difference.
Morgana's goal was to resurrect top-tier magicians from around the world—like the ancient pharaohs of Egypt and Taoist masters of China—and control a massive army of undead sorcerers to defeat all of humanity and establish a kingdom of her own.
"Come out!"
After acquiring all the knowledge of the Book of the Dead, George yanked hard with his paw, forcibly tearing Morgana's soul from Veronica's body.
"Damn you, traitor!"
Morgana's soul roared in fury. Her magical power erupted as hellfire, blasting the current away and freeing her from George's lightning suppression, which had reached over ten billion volts.
She then raised both hands, and a powerful surge of hellfire roared toward George.
"Traitor? I never claimed to be on your side."
George opened his mouth and swallowed the incoming magical flames. His cheeks puffed out before he unleashed:
"Dragon Slayer Magic – Roar of the Fire Dragon!"
Flames of red, blue, and black burst forth in retaliation, burning Morgana's soul until it screeched in pain.
His flames contained the infernal fire of a magic dragon and the curse of wrathful fire—both especially harmful to souls.
"I won't let you go!"
Realizing George's true strength, Morgana didn't stay to fight. Instead, she turned and fled from the island.
To her, as long as she could escape, she could always possess a new body and revive. Then, she could return to take revenge on the panda. There was no need to clash head-on in her current weakened state.
