(长老的裁决 - Zhǎnglǎo de cáijué)
Raiko stood before the towering Grand Hall of Azure Sky Academy, its ancient stone pillars casting long shadows under the morning sun. The air was thick with an unspoken tension, and his footsteps echoed as he crossed the vast marble floor.
The chamber was vast, lined with towering statues of past warriors heroes who had once shaped the world. At the far end, six elders sat in a semicircle, their robes embroidered with golden sigils that marked their authority.
In the center, directly in front of Raiko, sat Elder Feng Yuan the man who had watched his fight with Wu Jiang. His piercing eyes studied Raiko with unreadable intent.
Raiko felt his heartbeat slow. This is it.
"Raiko Yun," Elder Feng Yuan's voice rang through the chamber, cold yet calm. "Do you know why you have been summoned here?"
Raiko met his gaze, careful to keep his expression neutral. "No, Elder."
A moment of silence. Then, another elder, Elder Mo Liang, leaned forward. "Your fight with Wu Jiang… You displayed remarkable agility. You avoided every attack without countering, yet when Wu Jiang fell, it seemed almost intentional. Tell us, was that truly just luck?"
Raiko exhaled slowly. "I do not know, Elder. Maybe it was."
Lies.
He had spent years hiding his right-hand power, but now the elders were prying. He needed to be careful.
Feng Yuan's eyes narrowed slightly. "Interesting." He motioned toward one of the guards. "Bring forth the Eye of Truth."
Raiko's fingers twitched.
The Eye of Truth a rare artifact that could sense distortions in energy. If it detected any imbalance in his spiritual flow, the elders would realize he was not normal.
Two armored guards approached, carrying a crystalline orb that pulsed with a faint golden glow. They placed it on a pedestal before Raiko.
"Place your hand upon the Eye," Elder Mo Liang instructed. "It will reveal the truth of your strength."
Raiko hesitated for half a second. Then, masking his unease, he stepped forward and pressed his left hand onto the crystal.
The orb shimmered, scanning his energy. It flickered for a moment, then stabilized into a calm, blue hue a sign of an ordinary power.
Raiko's pulse remained steady, though his mind raced.
By only using his left-hand power, he had deceived the artifact.
The silence in the hall stretched until Elder Feng Yuan finally nodded. "It appears you are telling the truth. You are not hiding anything… for now."
Raiko bowed his head slightly, hiding his relief.
Elder Mo Liang sighed. "Very well. You may leave, Raiko Yun. But heed this should we find any deception, the punishment will be severe."
Raiko gave a respectful bow before turning to leave.
As he stepped out of the Grand Hall, he felt Feng Yuan's eyes lingering on him.
The elder wasn't convinced.
And that meant one thing.
They would be watching him more closely from now on.
That night, as Raiko sat on the rooftop of the dormitory, a voice broke the silence.
"You fooled them well."
Raiko spun around, his stance immediately defensive. A figure leaned casually against the wooden railing a young woman, her long silver hair glowing under the moonlight.
She smirked. "Relax. If I wanted to expose you, I would have done it already."
Raiko narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?"
The woman tilted her head. "My name is Xue Lian. And like you, I know what it means to hide in plain sight."
Raiko frowned. "What do you mean?"
Xue Lian's eyes gleamed. "The world isn't as simple as strong or weak, Raiko. Some of us are waiting for the right moment to rise. And trust me… your moment is coming."
Before he could respond, she leapt off the rooftop, vanishing into the night.
Raiko sat there, staring into the darkness, his mind filled with questions.
Who was she?
And more importantly…
What did she know about him?
