The school trip had ended, but the memories lingered like a pleasant dream. The thrill of competition, the camaraderie, and that moment when May called me her hero — it all felt surreal. But as soon as we stepped back onto school grounds, reality came crashing in.
"Isagi! You traitor!" Kaito's voice echoed across the hallway, and I barely had time to react before he lunged at me. "You went ahead and got all close with May during the trip, and you didn't even tell me?! I thought we were brothers!"
"It's not like that!" I protested, trying to dodge his overly dramatic attack. "We're just… friends!"
"Friends who hold hands under the moonlight?" he teased, waggling his eyebrows.
My face burned. "That's not — you're blowing this out of proportion!"
Before Kaito could retort, May appeared, her usual calm presence immediately making my heart race. "Morning, Isagi. Morning, Kaito."
Kaito stood up straight, grinning. "Morning, May! Hey, did you know Isagi here's been—"
"Not. Another. Word," I hissed, clamping a hand over his mouth.
May tilted her head, smiling in that way that made it impossible to tell if she was teasing or just genuinely curious. "What's this about?"
"Nothing!" I said quickly, releasing Kaito.
The bell rang, saving me from further embarrassment. As we headed to class, I couldn't help but wonder if school life was about to get even more chaotic — and if my heart would survive it.
But just when I thought things couldn't get more unpredictable, our homeroom teacher walked in with a mischievous smile. "Alright, class, I have an important announcement… and it's going to change everything."
My stomach dropped. What now?
