The restaurant buzzed with excitement as the couple contest began. The host, a lively man in his fifties with a wide grin and a microphone, welcomed everyone. "Thank you all for joining this special event celebrating the 30th wedding anniversary of our beloved restaurant owners! Tonight, we'll see how well our couples know each other! And remember, the winning couple will receive a special dinner for two and a mystery prize!"

As the audience cheered, Isagi stole a glance at May. She looked nervous but determined. Kaito and Akari, on the other hand, were already bickering softly.

"For our first round," the host announced, "we'll start with a quiz! But first, we need some information from each of you."

He handed forms to every couple. "Please write down your favorite food, favorite color, favorite sport, favorite place, and favorite flower. These answers will be used to verify your partner's responses later!"

Isagi filled his form quickly, but his mind was more focused on May's answers. Thanks to his knowledge from the anime, he already knew most of her favorites. Still, he pretended to write casually.

Once the forms were collected, the quiz began. The first few couples answered, some doing well and others… not so much.

Then it was Kaito and Akari's turn.

"Alright, Kaito!" the host called out. "What's Akari's favorite food?"

"Wrong!" The host laughed. "It's sushi!"

Kaito groaned as the audience chuckled.

"Next question—her favorite color?"

By the end of their turn, Kaito had managed only one correct answer, and Akari fared slightly better with two.

Isagi smirked as he watched their performance. "This is kind of fun," he whispered to May.

"Isagi! Let's see how well you know your partner!" the host said. "What's May's favorite food?"

"Pasta," Isagi answered without hesitation.

Isagi kept answering confidently, racking up four correct answers in a row. The audience murmured in admiration. But then came the last question.

"And finally, her favorite flower?"

Isagi knew the answer was lilies, but he paused, pretending to think hard.

"Umm… roses?" he said after a moment.

He let out a fake disappointed sigh while May looked at him curiously.

Then it was her turn. But unlike Isagi, May struggled.

"Wrong again! It's the mountains!"

By the end, May hadn't gotten a single answer right. She looked mortified, but Isagi just smiled at her reassuringly.

As the round wrapped up, the host announced the current rankings. A newlywed couple led with five perfect answers, while Isagi and May were somewhere in the middle of the pack.

"And that's the end of round one! But don't worry—everything can change in round two! Stay tuned for our next exciting challenge!"

Isagi's heart pounded. Whatever the next round was, he had a feeling things were about to get a lot more intense.
