The Gathering Storm

Kairo stood at the edge of a crumbling rooftop, looking down at the city below. The neon lights flickered, casting eerie shadows on the streets. The Eclipse Syndicate had gone silent for now, but he knew better than to think they had given up. They were just waiting. Watching. Preparing.

Lena leaned against the railing beside him, her arms crossed. "So… what's the next move?"

Kairo clenched his fists. He had been thinking about that ever since their last battle. They had managed to escape, but barely. He was getting stronger, but it wasn't enough. He needed more than just power—he needed a team.

"We need to find the others," Kairo said. "If we're going to survive what's coming, we can't do it alone."

Lena sighed, rubbing the back of her head. "Easier said than done. Ronan, Darius, Arin, and Sorin all went off in different directions. We don't even know where they are."

Kairo turned to face her. "Then we find them. One by one."

Lena studied him for a moment before smirking. "You really are stubborn, huh?"

"You just figured that out?"

She rolled her eyes. "Alright, fine. But where do we start?"

Kairo opened his system interface.

[ Objective: Reunite Your Team ]

[ Status: Incomplete ]

[ Known Locations: Ronan – Western District | Arin – Undisclosed Location | Darius – Healing Grounds | Sorin – Last Seen in the Outer Zones ]

He frowned. "Ronan's the closest. We'll start with him."

Lena nodded. "Then we better move fast. If he's still alive, he's probably in trouble."

The Western District was a wasteland of ruined buildings, abandoned vehicles, and makeshift barricades. Fires burned in trash cans, illuminating the desperate faces of those who called this place home.

Kairo and Lena moved quickly, keeping to the shadows.

"He was last seen near an old supply depot," Kairo murmured, checking the map on his system. "If he's still there—"

A loud explosion cut him off.

BOOM!

The ground shook, sending debris flying. Screams filled the air as people scattered. Kairo and Lena exchanged glances before rushing toward the sound.

As they turned the corner, they saw it—a battle in the streets.

Ronan was in the center of it, blood dripping from his forehead. His back was against a shattered wall, his energy blade crackling in his hand. He was surrounded by Eclipse Syndicate enforcers, all armed and ready to finish him off.

"You guys really don't know when to quit," Ronan growled, wiping blood from his mouth.

The lead enforcer sneered. "You're out of time, Ronan. The boss wants you dead."

"Yeah? Tell your boss I said—"

Before Ronan could finish, one of the enforcers lunged.

Kairo moved.

In an instant, he was in front of the attacker, catching the strike mid-air. His grip tightened around the thug's wrist before he twisted—

SNAP!

The enforcer screamed as his arm bent at an unnatural angle. Kairo shoved him aside and turned to the others.

"Anyone else?"

The Syndicate enforcers hesitated. Then Lena stepped forward, flipping a knife in her hand. "Yeah, I didn't think so."

One of the enforcers cursed. "It's him. The kid who took down Malthus."

Kairo's reputation was spreading. Good.

The enforcers glanced at each other before retreating into the shadows.

Ronan exhaled, dropping to one knee. "You guys sure took your time."

Kairo knelt beside him. "You alright?"

Ronan grinned weakly. "I've been better."

Lena crossed her arms. "You look like hell."

"Thanks, I try."

Kairo shook his head. "We need to get moving. This place isn't safe."

Ronan nodded, pushing himself up. "You got a plan?"

Kairo looked at the city around them. The Eclipse Syndicate was still out there. The Ancient Ones were moving in the shadows. And the real war hadn't even started yet.

"Yeah," Kairo said. "We're getting the team back together."

And this time, they weren't running.

They were fighting back.
