Coming Home Unannounced

Diandra felt deeply hurt and wounded by Andre's treatment. If she hadn’t fought back, things could’ve ended up even worse. The man she once loved had changed into someone she barely recognized—someone who frightened her. Andre, her husband of twelve years, was no longer the man who used to be calm, understanding, and affectionate. He was a stranger now.

The sudden ring of her phone startled Diandra while she was driving. Roy’s name appeared on the screen.

“Hello, Roy,” she answered.

“How are you, Di?” Roy asked, his voice filled with concern.

Just hearing his voice eased the tightness in her chest. She wanted to cry and pour everything out, but she couldn’t. She was behind the wheel, and her children were with her.

“Where are you? Why are you so quiet, Di? Please, say something. You’re worrying me.” Roy sounded more anxious.

“Roy… please help me,” Diandra whispered, her voice trembling.

“What happened? Did Andre hurt you?”

“Andre… h-he…” she broke into sobs.
