Document Report #8: More Awakenings and the Mana Wars

By early December 2025, the world had irrevocably changed. The sudden emergence of Element-119, or Mana, had already transformed the environment, animals, and even the fundamental laws of physics. But the most shocking transformation was yet to come, which is the evolution of humans themselves.

It began slowly, at first, only a handful of reports surfaced about people displaying extraordinary abilities. A woman in Tokyo who could heal wounds with a touch. A firefighter in New York who walked through flames unscathed. A teenager in Berlin who lifted a car with his bare hands.

But once the number reached to the point and surpass 1000, many governments and scientists began to take notice of the rising number and began scrambled to study the phenomenon more. These individuals, soon labeled "the Awakened," were people who had developed an innate connection with mana, allowing them to manipulate energy, enhance their physical abilities, and even wield elemental forces.

But while some Awakened wanted to understand their newfound abilities, others saw an opportunity, for power, for domination, for war.

Initial Reports – Documented Awakened

Report #1001 - Subject: "The Ember Man"

Date: December 5, 2025

Location: Houston, Texas

Incident Summary: A 34-year-old man, Ethan Reyes, was reported running through the streets, completely engulfed in flames. Eyewitnesses stated that Reyes was unharmed by the fire and appeared to be in a state of extreme panic. Local law enforcement attempted to subdue him, but anything like tasers or tranquilizers were melted before impact. Reyes eventually collapsed due to exhaustion. He was later taken into custody by the Department of Mana Studies (DMS).

Report #1014 - Subject: "The Stormbringer"

Date: December 6, 2025.

Location: London, England

Incident Summary: A university student, Sophia Clarke, was caught on camera summoning a lightning bolt during a confrontation with a group of thieves. Surveillance footage showed electric arcs jumping between her hands before a single bolt of lightning struck her attackers unconscious. When the video footage was published on social media, Clarke later went into hiding and has not been seen since.

Report #1032 - Subject: "The Titan"

Date: December 21, 2025

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Incident Summary: During an attempted bank robbery, a man described as "over two meters tall, built like a tank" was seen lifting an armored police vehicle with one hand and throwing it into a nearby streetlight. Witnesses reported that his skin had turned to stone during the altercation.

The rising number of the Awakened threw world governments into chaos. Some saw them as potential assets, super-soldiers, spies, and weapons. Others feared them as threats to global security.

In the United States, Russia, China, and the European Union, agencies were quickly formed to monitor, control, or eliminate Awakened individuals.

The United Nations Mana Regulation Division (UNMRD) was established to classify and register all Awakened individuals.

The Department of Mana Studies (DMS) in the U.S. began secret projects to train and weaponize the Awakened.

In China and Russia, the response was more brutal, any unregistered Awakened were executed on sight.

Meanwhile, the public response was deeply divided.

Some idolized the Awakened, calling them "the next step in human evolution."

Others feared them, seeing them as monsters or walking disasters.

Religious groups either denounced them as demons or hailed them as divine beings.

One particularly vocal group, calling themselves "The Followers of the First Flame," believed that the Awakened were the chosen ones of a new world order. Their leader, a man known only as "the Grand Magister", preached that mana was a gift from a higher power meant to replace the weak with the strong.

But not all Awakened saw themselves as humanity's saviors. Some saw themselves as its new rulers.

The Mana Syndicate emerged in the shadows, a secret organization of the powerful Awakened who believed the world should belong to those who could wield mana.

Led by a mysterious figure known only as "The Sovereign," the Syndicate sought to overthrow governments and establish a new society where the Awakened reigned supreme.

The Syndicate operated in secrecy, recruiting the strongest Awakened from all over the world. Their goals were clear:

1.) Seize control of global mana supplies.

2.) Crush any opposition, including rival Awakened.

3.) Establish dominance over non-Awakened humans.

They raided military installations, stole classified research, and assassinated key government figures.

On December 25, 2025, the Mana Syndicate made its first major move.

A group of Awakened insurgents attacked Chicago, aiming to seize a classified research facility housing mana experiments.

The battle lasted 48 hours, with the Syndicate using brute force and magical warfare against police and military forces.

The Titan, one of the first known Awakened, led the charge and demolished entire city blocks.

It took three full military battalions and a bombing strike warning to drive them back.

Seeing the Awakened as an existential threat, a coalition of governments, corporations, and military leaders formed the Nulls, an underground alliance dedicated to eradicating mana from the world.

The Nulls were led by General Marcus Holt, a former U.S. military commander who had lost his entire family to a rogue Awakened attack.

They developed advanced anti-mana technology, including.

Mana Suppression Fields – zones where mana ceased to function.

Mana-resistant weaponry – bullets coated in Element-120, a newly discovered substance that nullified mana upon contact.

The Null Protocol – a secret directive that allowed the unrestricted hunting and elimination of Awakened.

On December 30, 2025, the Nulls launched their first major operation, the Los Angeles Purge.

Summary:

Using newly developed Mana Suppression Bombs, the Nulls launched a citywide assault on suspected Awakened hideouts.

Hundreds of Awakened were captured or killed.

The Mana Syndicate retaliated, triggering an all-out battle in downtown Los Angeles.

The event left over 2000 dead, marking the true beginning of the Mana Wars.
