Document Report #10: The Purple Serpent Incident

"We never saw it coming. One moment, the world was celebrating the end of the year and preparing for the new beginning. The next, a nightmare slithered into our reality."

- Survivor Testimony, Cunnamulla, December 30, 2025

On December 30, 2025, just a day before the New Year's Eve celebrations, the world witnessed one of the deadliest mana-induced incidents in recorded history.

A 100-meter-long Purple Serpent, later classified as "Calamity-class: Basilisk Variant - Apex Serpentis", appeared within Queensland, Australia.

This mutated beast was unlike any seen before. It possessed an axe-like blade protruding from its skull, capable of cleaving through reinforced buildings with a single swing. Its scales, reinforced by condensed mana, were resistant to conventional ammunition, and its venom carried corrosive properties that melted steel.

Over the course of 18 hours, the Purple Serpent rampaged across the lands in Australia, already destroying places like Charleville, Roma, and Cunnamulla.

Report #A-049

Date: December 29, 2025

Location: Outer Rim Town, 35 km from Charleville

Filed by: Ranger Mendez

Summary:

A local farmer reported strange tremors coming from the northern hills. Wildlife in the area, which were normally active at night, was observed fleeing en masse. The farmer also described seeing a "glowing shadow" in the distance.

This report, along with others detailing missing livestock, collapsed burrows, and strange tracks, was largely ignored by local authorities.

The government in Brisbane, occupied with New Year's Eve preparations, dismissed the warnings as "seasonal animal migration anomalies."

At 1:43 AM, December 30, 2025, the Purple Serpent launched its first assault on a nearby small farming settlement.

Survivor Testimony - Recorded Audio File

Speaker: Marco Lin, Resident

"It was like the ground came alive. The earth cracked open, and suddenly, there it was. Its eyes... glowing like purple embers. The moment it moved, our homes were gone. Just... gone. It didn't slither. It crushed and devoured everything! I saw my neighbor, old man Gregor... it swallowed him whole before he could even scream."

Within minutes, the small town was wiped off the map.

Only four survivors managed to escape and reached the next city, Roma, to raise the alarm.

As reports of destruction spread, local military units were deployed.

Official Military Transmission - 5:12 AM

Sender: Captain Miles Hargrove, 3rd Australian Defense Unit

"We are engaging the target! Repeat, we are engaging the target! Small-arms fire is ineffective! Requesting immediate air support! We have casualties, Jesus Christ, it's tearing through tanks like paper!"

The initial defense force consisted of:

120 ground soldiers

Four armored vehicles

Two attack helicopters

This force was decimated within the first 20 minutes of battle.

Key Findings:

1.) Standard weapons were useless. Bullets and missiles bounced off its mana-reinforced scales.

2.) Its axe-blade could sever entire tanks in half.

3.) It exhibited extreme intelligence, targeting strategic military positions before advancing toward Brisbane.

2.2 Mass Evacuation - Chaos in Brisbane

By 9:00 AM, the Purple Serpent reached Brisbane, a densely populated city with a population of approximately 2.7 million.

Survivor Testimony - Video Recording

Speaker: Officer Danielle Reyes, Police Department

"We didn't stand a chance. People ran and screamed. The serpent didn't just crush buildings, it swung its head, using that blade like a guillotine. The entire central district... gone. I saw a hundred people vanish in an instant. One second they were there, the next, just debris and fire."

The Australian Government issued a full-scale evacuation order, but half the city was destroyed before the majority could escape.

At 12:30 PM, world governments finally intervened and launched a joint military operation, involving:

U.S. Air Force and Navy

European Union Special Forces

Japan's Elite Mana Suppression Unit

Experimental Anti-Mana Weaponry

The battle strategy included:

1.) Luring the serpent toward the ruined outskirts of Brisbane to minimize collateral damage.

2.) Deploying mana-suppressing missiles to weaken its defenses.

3.) Using a coordinated aerial assault with high-yield bunker-buster bombs.

Official Combat Report - 3:20 PM

Filed by: General Raymond Vaughn

"The serpent resisted every strike. Even mana-suppressing rounds barely slowed it. Its regenerative abilities were off the charts. We lost over 500 personnel before we managed to pin it down. In the end, it took a direct hit from a hypersonic missile to finally bring it down."

At 5:15 PM, after nearly 18 hours of continuous combat, the Purple Serpent was finally slain.

Final Casualty Report:

• Estimated Death Toll: 390,000

Injured: Over 1.1 million

Economic Damage: $850 billion

Military Personnel Lost: 8,200

Brisbane was officially abandoned and declared a permanent High-Risk Zone due to lingering mana contamination.

This incident marked the beginning of a new global crisis, the emergence of city-level Mutant Beasts classified as Calamity-class beasts.

The Purple Serpent Incident changed the world. Governments could no longer ignore the threat of mana-induced evolution and many organizations were formed to combat the rising tide of monstrous creatures.

"We survived today. But what about tomorrow? What if the next creature is stronger? If there are like more of these things out there, then no doubt we are no longer at the top of the food chain."

- General Raymond Vaughn
