Hagrid pressed his lips together, his thick beard twitching slightly as he lifted his chin.
"I've read plenty of books on raising dragons in the library. I think I can manage to raise it."
Seeing that Hagrid had absolutely no sense of reality regarding his plan, Dylan raised an eyebrow.
"Are you sure this little hut of yours can fit a fully grown Norwegian Ridgeback? They can breathe fire, and your house is made entirely of wooden planks, isn't it?"
"Have you considered how much food a fully grown dragon will need? If I remember correctly, a Norwegian Ridgeback doubles in size within the first week after hatching."
"In just six months, the amount of meat it can eat in a single day..."
Dylan gave Hagrid a once-over.
"You're just about the right weight for its daily meal."
Ron nodded vigorously beside him. "There's no way you can raise a dragon here without the entire school finding out! Someone is bound to discover it! And then you'll be sent straight to Azkaban for illegally keeping a dragon!"
Hagrid nodded but clearly wasn't listening.
Hermione twitched the corners of her mouth and turned to Dylan. "There's no way we'll be able to convince him now. All he's thinking about is how to hatch that dragon egg."
Dylan also glanced at the small creature in the fire pit—he was worried that his Imperius Curse might not be strong enough, so he had been casting it in rapid succession.
It was making him feel a little mentally drained.
After all, casting spells consumes a lot of mental energy, and he was using an Unforgivable Curse—ten times in a row, no less!
"Next time, I should modify my wand effects to create chain lightning. That way, I could unlock an Avada Kedavra lightning effect."
Dylan couldn't help but think—if Voldemort had mastered this ability back then, would he really have been defeated so easily by Harry's simple Disarming Charm?
Dodging a single Killing Curse is manageable.
But if he unleashed a chain lightning version of Avada Kedavra, how would anyone even survive that?
"And right now, it's just ten consecutive casts. Once I complete more achievements, maybe I'll unlock a hundred casts in a row! Or even a thousand!"
Just imagining it—a single wave of his wand, and hundreds or even thousands of Killing Curses raining down like a storm—who could possibly stand against him in battle?
"Hey, Dylan, what are you thinking about?"
Seeing Dylan staring intently at the dragon egg without responding, Hermione frowned.
"Huh?" Dylan snapped out of his thoughts and shook his head. "Just thinking about something interesting."
Hermione was about to press for details when Dylan continued, "I think if Hagrid really wants to hatch the egg, we should just let him. It'll help him fulfill a lifelong wish."
"And once the dragon hatches, we can contact Ron's brother—doesn't he work with dragons in Romania?"
Hermione blinked, then nodded thoughtfully. "That actually makes sense. Alright then, let's let Hagrid give it a try—though I doubt he can even hatch that pitch-black egg."
That's not necessarily true.
Dylan cast another Imperius Curse on the Norwegian Ridgeback egg in the fire.
Suddenly, he noticed that the magic scroll icon on his system panel had trembled slightly.
Dylan's eyes lit up with excitement. Keeping his expression neutral, he opened the magic scroll, and instantly, a new achievement notification popped up.
However, after glancing at it, he realized the achievement was still grayed out and hadn't been unlocked yet.
---
**[Achievement]: Dragon Lord (Pending Unlock)**
**Description:** Become a dragon's master—not to dominate the beast, but to harness its power!
**Unlock Requirement:** Make a dragon swear loyalty to you by any means necessary.
**Achievement Rewards:** +1 Pet Slot, Pet Power Domination
---
Aha!
Seeing this not-yet-unlocked achievement, Dylan's eyes gleamed with excitement.
He actually triggered an achievement in advance?
Usually, the system only responded after he had already done something, but this time, casting the Imperius Curse on the dragon egg had seemingly revealed the conditions for unlocking it.
"A new pet slot? Pet Power Domination?"
When he first entered Hogwarts, he had drawn "Ember," a small Shadow Lynx that resembled a lynx.
Ember had unique abilities—it could blend into shadows at night, phase through walls, and had exceptional stealth.
Since then, he hadn't triggered any pet-related achievements.
But now, this could be his chance to tame a full-grown dragon?!
If he could make a dragon his pet, he could simply store it in his pet space.
Unlike Hagrid, who would struggle to keep it hidden, Dylan could summon the dragon only when needed—perhaps deep in the Forbidden Forest at night—where he could collect scales, claws, and even dragon blood.
Not to mention, he could use the dragon's sheer presence to intimidate the creatures of the Forbidden Forest, making hunting much easier.
This was practically an infinite resource generator!
And that "Pet Power Domination" ability—it was pretty easy to guess what that did.
It likely meant he could tap into his pet's powers to some extent, right?
Dylan could hardly believe it. If he could use Ember's abilities himself, moving around would be effortless!
He could turn into a shadow, phase through walls—he wouldn't even need an Invisibility Cloak anymore!
And if he had a dragon as a pet, gaining access to a dragon's power...
Would that mean he could breathe fire like a dragon? Or wield fire-based magic?
That was just the beginning.
If he could tap into a dragon's strength, his physical attributes and magical resistance would skyrocket.
If he gained resistance equal to that of a dragon—or even stronger than a Cerberus—he might even be able to withstand an Unforgivable Curse!
Dylan swallowed as he stared at the black dragon egg, still nestled in the fire. The flames licked its surface, yet the egg remained unharmed, as if resting comfortably in a warm, protective cocoon.
It was clearly absorbing the fire's energy.
"If trying to control a dragon can trigger this kind of achievement… what if I took the newborn dragon and turned it into potion ingredients? Would I get some kind of dragon-related bloodline elixir as a reward?"
If he got his hands on such a potion, his Animagus transformation might allow him to turn into a dragon!
That would be unprecedented in the wizarding world!
A wizard transforming into a dragon, wielding both magic and insane magical resistance—so much so that even the Killing Curse wouldn't be a guaranteed fatal hit!
"And if I then cast the Patronus Charm to summon a dragon on top of that..."
Dylan couldn't help but fantasize about the glorious future ahead of him.
Harry continued chatting with Hagrid, but Hagrid was barely paying attention, completely focused on his soon-to-hatch dragon egg.
After all, he had already said everything—both what should and shouldn't be said.
The secrets he had held were basically all pried out of him by Harry and Hermione.
So, after taking care of everything, he found himself caring less about Harry and the Sorcerer's Stone.
—At this moment, he was more focused on safely hatching this Norwegian Ridgeback egg.
After leaving Hagrid's hut, the group returned to their dormitories.
It was already late; after tidying up a bit, they could all go to bed.
Lying in bed, Harry was still a little worried.
"What if someone finds out that Hagrid is raising a dragon?"
Ron, sitting on his bed, pulled up the blanket that had half-slipped onto the floor.
"What else? He'd be sent straight to Azkaban."
Dylan, hugging his pet coal-black cat, had already mastered the ability to block out Harry and the others' conversations without needing a spell.
Lying in bed, he wore soft pajamas that he had magically transformed from a newly bought robe and soon fell into a deep sleep.
A little while later…
Dylan's research into Divination had become more advanced, which meant he had less time to go into the Forbidden Forest to gather materials.
At the same time, he was also preparing a birthday gift for Professor Snape.
January was approaching fast.
He needed to be ready in advance.
This time, he couldn't let it be like Christmas, where Snape thought his gift was unimpressive.
It had to be something he could proudly show off to the other professors!
To achieve this, he even studied several books on fashion design—he planned to design a robe himself.
He sketched out his drafts in his notebook, and one day, while flipping through it, Professor Trelawney happened to notice his robe design.
To Dylan's surprise, Professor Trelawney had quite a deep appreciation for fashion design.
—Even though she usually dressed so eccentrically.
But thinking about it, it made sense—after all, diviners often had an artistic side.
She almost never wore the same outfit twice.
Just like Muggle English teachers.
The difference was…
That one green long-sleeved robe she wore? At first glance, it looked identical every day, but in reality, whether it was the cuffs, the collar, or the patterns on the fabric, something was always different.
Clearly, they weren't the same robes—though they made it seem like she never changed clothes.
As she dramatically gestured with her hands, Professor Trelawney had once explained—
"Dylan, attire is a subtle reflection of fate. If you dress in fresh garments each day, luck will bloom around you like spring flowers."
When Dylan asked—
"Is that really true?"
Professor Trelawney would narrow her eyes and reply—
"The visions in the crystal ball, the paths of the tarot cards, all exist within one's heart. If you truly believe that new clothes can attract good fortune, then they will become a gentle blessing from destiny. If you don't, then they are merely fabric to cover your body."
Dylan wasn't sure he fully understood, but based on his knowledge of magic, he came to a simple conclusion…
Dylan went to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions in Diagon Alley and custom-ordered 44 robes.
—Through Divination, he had determined that 44 was his lucky number.
As a result, he spent nearly a thousand Galleons on these custom robes.
—Winter robes were nearly twice as expensive as regular ones.
"Oh well, who cares if I believe in it or not? If the professor says so, then I might as well pray to Buddha and God while I'm at it—doesn't that make me a devout believer?"
Dylan's progress in Divination was both fast and slow.
Professor Trelawney told him that he had yet to find his own unique path.
Dylan didn't quite understand what that meant, and Professor Trelawney couldn't explain it clearly either. She only encouraged him to continue studying—one day, he would realize what his personal Divination path was.
Since Divination was so mysterious—more incomprehensible than magic itself—Dylan had been pouring all his energy into it lately.
Even Professor McGonagall, during their post-class tutoring sessions, had commented on it several times.
—"Your progress in Transfiguration has been dragging lately."
—"Why are you thinking about Divination in the middle of Transfiguration class?"
—"Oh! Transformation and fate have no connection—well, maybe they do, but that's not something you need to consider right now."
Dylan could only apologize repeatedly.
Even on weekends, when he went to Professor Snape's office to brew potions…
Though his technique was perfectly fine, Snape would still make cutting remarks from time to time.
—"I hear you've been spending all your time learning Divination from that lunatic old bat?"
—"Can Divination make the potion in your cauldron react properly?"
—"It looks to me like your brain has been scrambled by all that mystical nonsense!"
Dylan could only respond with an awkward smile.
Until…
Harry's white owl, Hedwig, spread her wings and flew over while he was eating.
Dylan noticed that there was a note tied to Hedwig's leg.
After untying it, he unfolded the note and saw a hastily written message: **"Come quickly! The shell has cracked!"**
Dylan calmly looked at the note. The handwriting seemed like it could belong to Hagrid or maybe Ron.
After sending Hedwig off, he continued eating his meal without heading to Hagrid's hut.
It wasn't time yet.
He was certain that his Imperius Curse was still working on the dragon.
There was no need to do anything unnecessary for now.
Two more days passed.
After finishing his meal, Dylan set off for the library to borrow some new books on Divination.
However, while he was reading, Harry suddenly rushed in.
As soon as he spotted Dylan, he hurried over, practically running.
**"What's wrong?"**
Dylan raised an eyebrow when he noticed the anxious look flashing across Harry's pale face.
**"Something bad happened! Dylan, that Malfoy guy found out about Norbert!"**
**"Norbert?"**
**"The dragon! The little one that Hagrid hatched from an egg!"**
Harry looked flustered.
**"Ron said that if you're caught raising a dragon in secret, you could be thrown into Azkaban! What should we do? I swear, Malfoy is definitely going to report this to Professor Dumbledore!"**
It was time.
Dylan didn't seem affected by Harry's nervousness. Instead, he remained calm and even gave Harry a slight smirk.
