The visit?

Back at the palace, Prince Ryker was engaged in a casual conversation with his guard, Thomas. They were discussing the latest hunting trip, and Thomas was regaling the prince with tales of his bravery.

Just as Thomas was getting to the good part of the story, a gentle voice interrupted them. "Ryker, darling, I'm so sorry to interrupt."

Prince Ryker turned to see his fiancée, Abigail, standing in the doorway. She was a beautiful woman in her mid-twenties, with long, curly brown hair and bright green eyes. Abigail had been a close friend of Elijah's before she became engaged to Prince Ryker, and the three of them had grown up together.

"Abigail, my love," Prince Ryker said, smiling as he walked over to her. "You're not interrupting at all. Thomas was just telling me about his latest hunting adventure."

Abigail's eyes sparkled with interest as she turned to Thomas. "Oh, do tell," she said, her voice encouraging.

Thomas launched back into his story, and Abigail listened with a smile. Prince Ryker watched her, feeling a pang of affection. He was lucky to have her by his side.

But as he looked at Abigail, he couldn't help but think of his brother, Elijah. Abigail had been close to Elijah, too, before she and Ryker became engaged. Ryker wondered what Elijah would think if he knew that Abigail was now his fiancée.

Prince Ryker's expression turned thoughtful as Thomas excused himself from the chamber, leaving the prince alone with Abigail. They chatted for a while, discussing trivial matters, but Prince Ryker's mind kept wandering back to Elijah. He couldn't shake the feeling that Abigail would be devastated if she found out what he had done to his brother.

Abigail's voice cut through his thoughts, her tone casual. "Your Highness, I've been having a thought lately...about someone who's been on my mind recently. Can you guess who it is?"

Prince Ryker's heart skipped a beat as he tried to compose himself. He didn't want Abigail to suspect that he knew exactly who she was thinking of. "Hmm, I'm not sure," he said, trying to sound nonchalant. "Is it someone from the village?"

Abigail's smile faltered for a moment, and Prince Ryker's instincts told him that he was right on the money. Elijah's name was on the tip of her tongue, and he knew it.

But then Abigail's expression changed, and she said, "Actually, I've been thinking about Elijah lately. Little has been coming to my mind, and I think I've heard rumors that he's been spotted in town. What do you think? Should we invite him to the palace?"

Prince Ryker's heart skipped a beat, and he felt a sudden surge of anxiety. He didn't want to give Abigail any reason to suspect that he was hiding something from her. So, he took a deep breath and tried to compose himself.

"Ah, Elijah," he said, his voice neutral. "Yes, I've heard rumors that he's been spotted in town. But I'm not sure if inviting him to the palace would be...wise."

Abigail's eyes narrowed slightly, and she looked at Prince Ryker with a curious expression. "Why not?" she asked, her voice gentle but probing.

Prince Ryker hesitated, unsure of how to respond. He didn't want to lie to Abigail, but he couldn't tell her the truth either. So, he decided to deflect her question with a vague response.

"I'm just not sure if it would be...convenient," he said, trying to sound nonchalant. "But we can discuss it further later, my dear."
