Chapter 11: Unusual Occurrences

The next second, something even more touching happened.

He turned off the lights, and the entire ceiling of the house turned into a star - filled sky. It was as if we were standing under a vast expanse of stars, romantic and beautiful.

Tears streamed down my cheeks. I stared blankly at all this and covered my mouth in an instant.

When I finally found my voice, it was trembling. "Xie Yan, you... why are you doing all this for me?"

This was only the second day of our co - habitation, and he had prepared such a big surprise for me.

Why on earth?

Unable to find a reason for a moment, I could only ask.

In the pitch - black room, he took my hand and gradually moved closer to me. His voice echoed in my ears, as if filled with boundless love, without any reservation.

"I know our relationship is progressing too fast. You may find it a bit hard to accept recently and can't fully trust me wholeheartedly."

I was stunned, as he had hit the nail on the head, and I couldn't refute.

After all, I had stalked him during the day and always maintained a suspicious attitude towards him. What he said was indeed the truth.

Seeing me remain silent, his gentle voice continued. "But from now on, I'll gradually let you know that you made the right choice."

His magnetic voice was firm and distinct in the darkness. My heart instantly fluttered like a caged bird.

My heart was pounding, and my body seemed to become especially sensitive.

The moment I took a deep breath to calm myself, a touch of coolness spread from my neck. It was his fingertips touching me, slowly and gently sliding down from my neck to my collarbone, caressing my skin tenderly.

My body was instantly aroused with emotions, and an ambiguous atmosphere filled the darkness. My heart rate seemed to be accelerating.

Then, I felt his thin lips land on my face, a light kiss, and then he began to search for my lips.

My mind went blank. How did things escalate so quickly?

"Wait... wait a minute." My hand subconsciously pressed against his chest, and unconsciously, cold sweat seeped out.

I knew what might happen next, and I couldn't help but feel nervous.

He asked with concern, and his movements stopped. I didn't say anything. Or, to be precise, I didn't know how to explain my sudden stop.

Maybe he would think I was a spoilsport!

But to my surprise, he actually turned on the light, looked at me gently. His eyes, filled with tenderness, seemed as if they could overflow with love. His large palm held the back of my neck. "Are you not ready?"

I nodded, my face instantly blushing.

After all, it was my first time, and I didn't want to be too hasty.

His gaze was too intense, so I quickly changed the subject. "The food will get cold soon. Let's go eat first!"

I forced a smile, and he immediately smiled too.

"Okay, I'll listen to you."

This meal was particularly delicious, and I secretly made up my mind that I wouldn't doubt Xie Yan easily in the future.

At the dinner table, we chatted casually. He ate slowly, with extremely gentlemanly and elegant movements.

His hand with well - defined knuckles reached out, and his rough thumb pad pressed against my lips.

My face heated up, and I froze.

Xie Yan smiled, his lips curving. "There's a bit of sauce."

I laughed awkwardly, but my heart was filled with sweetness.

Suddenly, an untimely phone ringtone sounded, like a death knell, abruptly shattering the warmth.

I looked up subconsciously and happened to catch a flash of nervousness in Xie Yan's eyes. He hesitated for a moment before answering the phone.

I frowned slightly, feeling a bit strange.

He glanced at his phone, composed his expression, replaced it with a gentle smile, and looked at me.

"There's something wrong at my store. I have to go out for a while."

As he spoke, he stood up.

I stood up right after him.

He walked around the table and stood in front of me. His tall figure bent slightly, and his cold lips pressed against my forehead.

"Stay at home and wait for me obediently."

His gentle words were like a spring breeze caressing my face. My ear felt warm, and I nodded involuntarily, my face burning.

Although such intimate gestures had become routine for him, every time we made contact, my heart would still pound like a drum, throbbing with the excitement of a first love.

He changed his clothes, tidied himself up slowly yet quickly, looking ready to go. He smiled at me, then turned and left.

Standing at the door, I looked outside until his figure disappeared from my sight. Then I suddenly came to my senses.

Xie Yan's nervous look from earlier inexplicably appeared in my mind.

Although it was only for a moment, I still saw it.

What on earth had happened to make him show such an expression?

Patta - ta - ta—

It was as if the sound of marbles falling on the floor, beating like a heart, as if it was about to smash through the ceiling the next second.

I frowned in confusion and looked up. It seemed to be coming from the small attic. But that place was always used to store sundries. Could it be that a mouse had knocked something over?

I don't know why, but I felt a sense of unease in my heart.

The sound stopped after a while, and the room returned to silence. I carried the bowl to the sink. The moment I turned on the faucet, I seemed to hear an odd noise. It seemed to be blocked inside, yet it was also like something scratching the pipes.

I turned off the faucet, and the sound suddenly disappeared.

My heart skipped a beat, and unease gradually spread. Along with some strange thoughts emerging in my mind, I felt a shiver down my spine.

Maybe I was just being too suspicious.

I comforted myself in my heart. However, the next second, I felt as if there was a pair of cold eyes staring at me intently from behind.

My body turned icy cold, and I stood rigidly in place.

A rustling sound came from behind, getting closer and closer, as if it was about to rush up to me the next second.

I suddenly turned around and looked around.

There was nothing.

I gasped for breath, my forehead sweating. I couldn't help but swallow hard.

Could it be that I was hallucinating because I had been too nervous these past two days?

Just as I was about to heave a sigh of relief, my phone suddenly rang, scaring me.

It was Xu Xin calling.

I sighed and walked to the sofa in the living room to sit down.

"How are things going between you and Xie Yan?"

Xu Xin's mysterious voice came from the other end of the phone.

"I think I might have been overthinking things before. I've decided to trust him wholeheartedly from now on!"

As I said this, a sweet smile unconsciously curved my lips.

Thinking about the little things that happened between the two of us, his image in my heart became more and more imposing. All the tender moments played like a slideshow in my mind.

"Wow, you've been won over so quickly? I'm telling you, don't be a love - struck fool. Don't be deceived by a man just because of some superficial things!"

Xu Xin said half - jokingly.

I smiled. "He won't deceive me."
