Atlas looked at the window, through which the light was filtering, and felt the silence in the room calm his thoughts. Maybe he should do something else - read, do a couple of things, or maybe go for a walk. But he knew he would be back in the game soon.
Atlas was just about to dive back into the game when he heard the bell ring. It was his father.
–How are you, haven't you found a part-time job yet? – His father's voice was always the same, calm and a little insistent: – Listen, I've been thinking... you're out of work right now, right? I have a part-time job, you could help me.
Atlas, a little surprised, put his hand on the virtual reality helmet and paused the process of immersion in the game.
–Oh, hi, Dad. Yes, I'm not working yet. – he replied, going to the window and looking out at the street, thinking: – What kind of side job?
–It's a small job, don't worry. – the father continued: - I need a little help with the organization. If you work a little harder, you can earn some money. It's not difficult, and it's close. Besides, it might be useful.
Atlas paused, digesting his father's words. Actually, he understood that this was not the most exciting offer, but on the other hand, his current financial status was not the best. He spent too much time in the game, and working in real life could help him with some household needs.
–I'll think about it, Dad. I'll give you an answer later. Atlas said, without making promises, but still realizing that this was a logical step.
– Okay, think about it. But don't waste too much time. – the father said this with a smile, but with a note of concern in his voice: – Okay, I'll be waiting.
Atlas ended the conversation feeling neither enthusiastic nor disappointed. He knew that a part-time job could be useful, but the game took all his attention.
Returning to his thoughts about virtual reality, Atlas put on his helmet again and immersed himself in the game. The virtual world beckoned to him, and he was ready to continue his adventure in Flanard Ford.
Atlas plunged back into the virtual world, feeling reality disappear beyond the boundaries of his consciousness. Sighing, he focused on the task in front of him.
"The Master of Shadow Fabrics quest is to find a blacksmith in the Dra'Myr to improve his equipment and dagger, Atlas repeated in his mind, absorbed in the thought that he needed to improve his equipment in order to be ready for the next stage of his adventure.
According to the information that was displayed on the interface, the blacksmith had to be somewhere in the city center, not far from major shopping malls. Dra'Myr was not only home to many artisans, but also a place where many magicians, blacksmiths, and other professionals lived and worked.
Atlas went there, walking through the familiar streets, which were decorated with glowing lanterns and decorations, which gave the city an atmosphere of an ancient, magical world.
He knew that blacksmiths had a lot of useful things to offer, but he needed to find someone who dealt with rare, almost forgotten technologies and could work with the materials needed to improve his equipment.
As he walked down the street, he noticed a blacksmith shop with smoke billowing from a chimney. It was a blacksmith shop, which, judging by the signboard, employed the very blacksmith who could help him improve. Atlas headed there.
When Atlas entered the forge, he saw the blacksmith working on some complicated object, the forged metal sparkling in the dim light of the fire. However, what surprised him was the woman who stood next to him and helped the blacksmith, carefully watching his every move.
It was Kira, the blacksmith from Dra'Myr he met in the dungeon a few days ago. Now she worked here, moonlighting in a blacksmith shop, and apparently continued to study the craft. Kira was busy dusting a tool and putting it on a shelf when she noticed Atlas.
– Oh, it's you, Atlas! – Her eyes flashed with surprise when she saw him in the forge: –I didn't expect to meet you here so quickly. What brings you to this forge? Have you come to improve your equipment?
Atlas came up to her and smiled, slightly surprised that she worked here. He hadn't expected to see her at the blacksmith shop, because she seemed more focused on finding information about her family than on blacksmithing.
–Yes, I need to improve my dagger and outfit. Besides, you said you were coming here. – he replied, looking around the forge: - And how did you end up here?
Kira was silent for a few seconds, and then replied
– I work part–time here, trying to learn blacksmithing. I want to master this craft.
But to be honest, I'm still trying to find something that could help me find my family. But blacksmithing can be useful.
Atlas nodded, understanding her words. He knew how difficult it was to find the right information about past generations, especially when someone was involved with such a rare and ancient art as blacksmithing. Meanwhile, the blacksmith, noticing their conversation, came closer.
– Have you decided to upgrade your equipment? Well, for this you need a "Shadow Skin" and a "Soul Crystal". If you bring the right materials, I can make you something really unique. However, if you want to learn more about this craft, perhaps Kira can help. She's still learning, but her knowledge can be useful.
"Learn Blacksmithing? It's too long, especially since I already have the profession of a Scavenger."
Atlas realized that despite the fact that blacksmithing attracted him, he could not learn this profession — his choice fell on the Scavenger, and now this profession limited his opportunities in blacksmithing. It was a little disappointing, but he decided not to get upset.
After all, the Scavenger still had useful skills and capabilities, and he had already demonstrated his talents in disassembling ancient artifacts and restoring objects.
– Kira, and her teacher, I am grateful for your help, but I cannot learn blacksmithing. I already have a profession. Atlas said, a little disappointed, but still smiling.
Kira thought for a moment, and then nodded.
–I understand. Don't worry, Atlas. Your skills may be limited, but you can still work with objects, disassemble them, and repair them. Scavenger is also an important profession: –she said, trying to cheer him up.
Atlas felt that her words had lightened his mood a little. He wasn't upset, but still thoughts of blacksmithing remained in his mind. After all, someday he might find a way to improve his skills in other areas.
–You're right. I will try to make the most of what I have. But anyway, if you have any information on how to improve weapons or find rare materials, I will be glad to listen to it.
