Chapter 11- Fiancée~1

For some reason, Carl was called by his parents to the Patriarch's office.

Well, he was expecting this since, in the morning, he passed the test that his elder brother presented before him.

Was he uncertain whether he should struggle or go with all force? Yes. However, considering he would only get one chance unless he was prepared to adapt to the real Carl's stubborn attitude, he had to give it his all and prove his determination to become a real part of the Ravenshade family.

So he did what he could while showing slight clumsiness and carelessness.

And now, despite all those intentional mistakes, he was facing his family members.

"Carlisle...tell me. What happened when you fell unconscious? Caleb and Cecily told me that when you woke up you were behaving differently."

Carlisle sighed. So they were interrogated, huh?

Well, he had already planned an explanation, so he answered them, "As I mentioned before the sense of helplessness helped me realize that I cannot depend on others for my protection; however, this incident just solidified that thought. The base has already formed quite some time ago."

Elion blinked in surprise and confusion.

Anastasia approached her child. Kneeling before him, she held his hands and asked, "What do you mean by that, son? Did someone threaten you before the incident?"

If that's the matter then Elion will have to seriously reflect on his nonchalance toward his family members.

Someone forced Carl into thinking that he needs to improve. That he needs to change?

Carlisle's eyes turned solemn as he responded, "It's Veronica."

Anastasia gasped while Victoria's eyes widened upon hearing that.

Veronica was the person Carlisle was engaged to.

She is the heiress of one of the five major clans.

Someone who was engaged to Carlisle to strengthen the relationship between the two clans.

Victoria stepped toward Carl as she asked, "Did she say something to you, Carl?"

Carlisle sighed before telling them, "I won't tell you. Today, they are coming to check on me, right? I will let you all know what her true colors are."

The two ladies exchanged glances with their husband, before Elion asked, "You can tell us, Carlisle. We will trust you."

Carlisle shook his head, "This is no small matter. This relationship is very crucial for the two clans. That's why, I want to have some proof against the girl before asking you all to take any action."

Everyone was rendered speechless when Carlisle said that.

They couldn't understand what they should say here...Carlisle had never said anything against Veronica before, and now he was suddenly sharing things about her that seemed to have hurt him quite deeply.

Victor approached his brother before he rested his hand on Carl's shoulder and said, "Don't worry, brother. Despite whatever happens, remember that we all are with you."

Carlisle nodded, offering him a smile, "Thank you."

The other three felt jealous that only Victor got that sweet smile. However, before they could have thought of something more heroic to say, Carlisle turned around and left.

There was a small smirk on Victor's face as he inserted his hands in his pockets and also began to walk away, "See you later."

______**______

What was the second reason that makes Carlisle a villain and eyesore for the readers?

The heroine for whom Carlisle was head over heels.

As Ed mentioned to the doctor, this story is the most cliche one he has ever read.

After all, the villain being infatuated with one of the heroines who was destined to fall for the main character, is seriously a commonly used troupe.

However, the doctor said that he liked it cliché.

But that's not a problem that Ed can casually treat and move on anymore. After all, he was one of the characters of the novel and someone who was supposed to be crazy for the heroine.

Carlisle was thinking of a way to get rid of her and their relationship and it seems his family members gave him a chance.

'Now I just need to wait for the evening.'

The news of the young master of the Ravenshade family getting kidnapped, spread like wildfire.

Someone belonging to the family of Elion Ravenshade? Yes, that's a feat that only either strong inhumane or a person with suicidal tendencies could achieve.

However, when the news of his return safely spread across the human realm, everyone sent their messages, showing how relieved they were.

As such, to celebrate Carlisle's return, everyone has gathered at the Ravenshae's main mansion.

The grand celebration hall of the Ravenshade mansion was a sight to behold. Its high ceilings were adorned with shimmering chandeliers, casting a warm golden glow across the room. Elegant silk curtains framed the tall windows, allowing the soft evening light to filter in. A long banquet table, covered in fine white cloth, was filled with exquisite dishes and sparkling drinks. The air carried a mix of rich perfumes and the faint scent of freshly polished wood.

Several prominent figures dressed in luxurious attire stood in small groups, their hushed conversations blending with the gentle music played by a group of skilled musicians in the corner.

The family of five was, naturally, also present in the ceremony.

Many people came to meet Carlisle but they never mentioned anything about the incident, for obvious reasons.

"Master Carlisle, let's go and play." Some kids of his age came to his side and began pulling his arm.

His mother also ushered him to go with them, so he didn't think much and followed them. Well, it's better to be with the simple creatures.

Carlisle was pulled outside the ceremonial hall as the first thing he heard was, "Was it scary, Master Carl?" A girl with a star hair clip asked with her eyes shining.

Carlisle heaved a sigh. The thing the adults refrained from asking, these kids just asked it naturally.

"Well, yeah, kinda."

"Wooh~so calm, so cool!"

"Young master, were they scary people? The kidnappers?"

Carlisle hummed, before he remembered the face of the two sobbing adults before him, "Not scary…they were kind, I guess?" After all, they were begging for their daughter's safety even on the verge of their demise.

The other kids glanced at each other, not sure what he was talking about.

It was then when suddenly someone spotted, "Ah, it's Miss Veronica."

Carlisle also turned toward the redhead girl who was approaching them with an indifferent look.

'Alright, let's see how much venom you have.'
