Mu Wanqing and her two companions immediately grew vigilant when they saw so many people rushing out, unsheathing their Tang swords in unison. The security team members hastily raised their makeshift weapons - steel pipes, kitchen knives, mops, and stools. The five leading guards carried slightly better gear: machetes, riot forks, rubber batons, while the security captain even wielded a stun baton.
"Captain, they've got blades!" a guard whispered nervously.
"Scared of what? Those are just decorations, probably not even sharpened. Look at you cowards!" the captain snarled under his breath.
Xiao Yang observed the tense standoff with casual disdain. Smiling, he pulled a crystal from his pocket. "Is this what you wanted?"
The captain glared at the useless trinket. "I saw you pick up a pack of sausages! Don't try to fool me!" He shot a meaningful look at his subordinates. "Search them! Check their clothes!"
Xiao Yang's eyes narrowed. So there really were people stupid enough to extort him. Three lecherous guards began advancing towards the women, who hesitated - killing zombies differed greatly from taking human lives. Even Lu You, who'd killed before, only did so for vengeance against true enemies.
They awaited Xiao Yang's signal. With blinding speed, his blade flashed. A guard's head tumbled to the ground as the headless body remained standing, arterial blood fountainting from the neck. The gruesome sight froze everyone in shock, Lin Shishi covering her mouth in horror. Even Mu Wanqing and Lu You stared wide-eyed at Xiao Yang's ruthless efficiency.
The thud of the collapsing corpse snapped everyone to attention. Most security members fled screaming back to the property building. "Useless trash!" the captain roared at his retreating men before turning to Xiao Yang. "Not bad. Join me and I'll forget you killed my man. You'll be rewarded."
Unknown to others, the captain had discovered enhanced agility and speed after last night's violent tryst. Though confused about the source, he felt confident he could now solo a zombie. He'd planned to cement his leadership today through dominance, never expecting to encounter Xiao Yang. But he remained certain of killing this pretty-boy when least expected, then claiming the women with his stun baton.
Xiao Yang chuckled coldly. "Five of you barely handled one zombie, and you want me to follow you?"
Mu Wanqing activated her mind-reading ability on the captain. These women are prime meat. As for this pretty boy... no one handsomer than me lives long. Disgusted, she warned: "He's plotting evil!"
The captain sneered, suddenly lunging at Xiao Yang with electrified baton. His enhanced speed meant nothing against Xiao Yang's reflexes. The stun baton halted centimeters from its target as steel flashed. A severed hand still clutching the weapon thudded to the ground. "Where did you find such confidence?" Xiao Yang mocked the screaming captain before decapitating him.
Turning to the three women, his voice turned icy: "Remember - when enemies show malice, kill them before they act. Mercy gets you killed." He gestured at the three cowering guards. "Finish them."
Lu You moved first, her blade cutting down a guard before he could react. Killing now felt no different than butchering poultry. Mu Wanqing steeled herself and silenced another's pleas. The last guard, driven mad with fear, lunged at hesitant Lin Shishi. Instinct took over - her sword pierced his chest. With their enhanced physical abilities from the time energy, such weaklings posed no real threat. Her struggle was purely psychological.
"Remember this well," Xiao Yang lectured as they stood amidst the carnage. "Never expect malice or lust to change. Given chance, they'll destroy you. Two things can't be stared at directly - the sun, and human hearts. Mercy to enemies is suicide."
Under his cold gaze, the three women lowered their heads in solemn understanding.
