Chapter 14: The Ghost Butcher

**Scotland Yard — Serious Crime Unit Office**

Sebastian Gray, James Morrison, and Thomas Wilson sat in tense silence—save for Sebastian, who lounged calmly in his chair.

"James," Sebastian said abruptly, "we need a psychologist. A *real* one."

Thomas frowned. "We've got certified ones on the team."

"Not the same," Sebastian replied, locking eyes with James. "You know what I mean."

James rubbed his temples. "No one like that in London. And even if there were, they wouldn't join the force."

Sebastian leaned forward. "Find the best. I'll handle recruitment. Use my father's connections if needed. This Ghost Butcher… he's playing a long game. Focus on catching him. I'll shield you from the brass."

James gripped Sebastian's shoulder. "Thanks."

Thomas, younger and brasher, pulled Sebastian into a bear hug. "You're family now."

**Task Force Formation**

By day's end, the "Ghost Butcher Case" was officially launched. A specialized task force assembled:

- **James Morrison**: Lead investigator.

- **Sebastian Gray**: Deputy leader and consultant.

- **Thomas Wilson**: Field operations commander.

Forensics, cyber experts, and psychologists (pending) rounded out the team. Scotland Yard was all-in.

---

**Abandoned Industrial Zone — 3:00 AM**

Victor Black's black sedan rolled into a derelict warehouse—one of two secret strongholds. The location was perfect: isolated, surveillanceless, forgotten.

Inside, he peeled back a rusted sheet to reveal a basement door. The space below was obsessively organized:

- **Box 1**: Stacks of vintage Nokia phones.

- **Box 2**: Burner SIM cards, prepped years in advance.

He disposed of tonight's gear, exited, and vanished into the night.

---

**Bar Street — 4:30 AM**

Victor nursed a whiskey at a dim-lit bar, blending seamlessly. Two miles from his stronghold, he hailed a taxi home.

**Dreamland Community — 5:00 AM**

He collapsed into bed, the Ghost Butcher's mask shed for now.

---

**Central London — Saturday Afternoon**

Victor and his friend Eric Matthews queued at a subway station, tickets for *Transformers 9* in hand.

"Need to act normal," Victor reminded himself. Friends, movies, shopping—cover staples.

As they reached the turnstiles, a voice called out:

"Fancy meeting you here."

Sebastian Gray stood smirking, a manila folder under his arm.

Victor froze. "Coincidence?"

Eric squinted. "Do I know you?"

"Sebastian Gray," the consultant said, extending a hand. "Alex's cousin."

"Right! Parents' meeting guy!" Eric grinned.

Sebastian's gaze lingered on Victor. "Off to Central London?"

"Yeah," Victor said flatly.

Sebastian's smile tightened. "Enjoy the movie."

As he walked away, a woman in a trench coat approached him.

"Miss Goodman," Sebastian said, shaking her hand. "Welcome to the task force."

Victor watched from the shadows.
