They shut the door behind them, leaving them alone.
June took a seat and stared at Lilac coolly.
The moment the door closed, Lilac walked over to where June was seated.
"Why would you ask Mason to marry you when you knew he was engaged to me? How desperate do you have to be?" she asked and June looked up at her with cold eyes.
June felt as though she had heard the most stupid thing.
"You of all people ask me that? The irony is," June answered, and Lilac wine was white.
June was feeling numb at this moment.
"You asked the father to propose marriage between you two the moment you have your full wolf change. Were you afraid I would marry him before you?" June asked and Lilac froze.
"I did it for the wood…"
"And you come in here to scold me, after acting as though you had no control to marry my…ex," June said.
All through, her voice was soft and without anger, she was not sure how she felt within when she thought of Mason and Lilac. One was own little sister and the other was the man she loved and she thought loved her back.
Was she that blind? She ignored whatever she did not like to see. But could she have possibly ignored the fact that Lilac liked Mason?
"And it seems the entire pack knew too. That is why you were not quite liked, wasn't it? The girls avoided you and I kept you around like an idiot. It is not that you like him that bothers me. It is how you move, It makes people uncomfortable," June said.
Lilac could not tell if she was really angry.
True, she had liked Mason for a while and most in the pack knew this. For some reason, they avoided her when she came around.
"Was I supposed to stay and watch him marry You? You cannot offer him anything!"
She saw June as a sister and had felt guilty falling in love with the man her sister was dating. But Mason made it clear they were just friends.
But now this has happened and June looked at her coldly without raising her voice, making her feel that she was the bad person here.
Her sweet persona slipped that moment
"I will be his mate. Can't you get over it? Why can't you let it go? Is this how you are going to be when I marry him? Are you going to be hanging around us to make things uncomfortable?" Lilac asked.
"What?" June asked.
"You are a wolf that has not even done her full awakening yet and you want to compete with me? You should know your place!"
June stared at her for a while. She was one to ignore what she did not want to see.
This was Lilac's character and everyone but she saw it. She could not help but mock herself.
"I have already been rejected. Cruelly too. There is no need for you to come around and warn me to stay away from your man. Please leave," June said and gestured to the door and it slowly opened on its own.
June was too shocked to notice this, But Lilac did and could not help but frown lightly. She felt a gush of wind stroll in and dismissed her confusion.
"You should leave or at least stay here longer. Don't come out and spoil my ceremony," Lilac said and left and the door shut behind her by another gush of wind.
June sat for quite a while alone in silence. It was unsure what was going on in her mind.
After a while, she had made up her mind.
She walked downstairs to the hall and walked into the family room coldly. She did not care who was looking.
She took a knife from the table and scraped her name off the family stone.
Someone gasped behind her and June turned to see her mother.
"What are you doing?" she asked June.
"Do you lack eyes, Martha?" she asked and her mother froze. Her body trembled and June knew that she was feeling pain.
Not from guilt, but actual physical pain that came from tearing the bloodline. It did not take long before her father dashed into the room.
"You dare!" he bellowed.
"You preferred to do it yourself? If you broke the blood ties, I would be the one in pain. How can I let that happen?" June asked. They noticed she had a small duffle bag beside her.
She had long moved out of the family house but still had some personal things she did not take. But since she would not be returning, there was no need to leave them here.
"From this moment, I am a lone wolf. Whatever happens to me will have nothing to do with you. Just as whatever happens to you will have nothing to do with me. I hope we never meet again," she said and walked past them.
Mr. Stone was so angry, that blood dropped from his nose.
"Get out! Get out! You are no child of mine," he said. He did not wait for her to walk out on her own. He slapped her, sending her flying across the room.
June did not bother to respond. She was too weak to do anything to them. She got up and limped out the door.
The moment June walked out, it started raining. She had broken her leg from her father's last attack and had very little money on her. She had no home. She could only call a taxi.
With the money she had on hand, she could not pay her way completely. She stopped with the meter on the taxi and had gotten to the amount of money she had at hand.
Walking out into the night air, she limped away. It did not take her long to notice where she was.
She was in Dark Riders territory. She panicked and started walking faster. She had not done her full awakening, so was only slightly faster than human beings.
But they soon caught her scent.
