Chapter 5

"Serenity, what are you doing? It's just a nightgown. My Harrington family can buy any nightgown we want. Why are you making things so difficult for Primrose? You're a mother too. Primrose is willing to give her child to the Harrington family. Instead of thanking her, you're doing this. Don't you think it's too petty?"

Zoran made a call to someone, and soon dozens of luHarringtonry cars pulled up in front of the mansion.

Hundreds of shopping assistants, each holding a nightgown, all runway pieces, stood ready.

"Primrose, you need to nurse the baby. These nightgowns are tailored for you, suitable for your size."

Primrose spoke shyly.

"Is the bust size big enough? I'm... quite large, and the previous ones were all too small, I couldn't wear them."

Zoran was speechless, staring at Primrose's shy demeanor, his eyes filled with longing.

The shopping assistants spoke in unison.

"Madam, Mr. Harrington specifically instructed us. Please rest assured, they're all in your size."

Row after row of shopping assistants pushed me out the door. Before I knew it, I had walked to the swimming pool.

The water was a light blue, the surface calm, unlike the turbulent waves from that day.I stared blankly at the water's surface when suddenly someone shoved me hard from behind. I fell into the pool, my head forcibly held underwater.

"Serenity, is the water cold? Would you like to see how your daughter struggled painfully in the sea? How the icy seawater swallowed her up, her tiny body sinking deeper and deeper until she couldn't breathe anymore..."

"Maybe it wasn't that painful, after all..."

Primrose sneered, her face contorted with malice.

"Serenity, I heard there were sharks in the sea that day. Do you know how strong a shark's bite is? Someone saw it with their own eyes..."

"Don't blame Zoran though. He only threw her into the sea. He didn't know there would be sharks. Haha! If you want to blame someone, blame your daughter's misfortune. Who told her mother to steal my place?"

"Zoran can't divorce you, but you're just holding onto an empty shell."

Hearing footsteps, Primrose quickly let go of me, stripped off her clothes, and jumped in as well.

She screamed as she slowly sank to the bottom of the pool. In the end, all that could be seen were bubbles gurgling to the surface.

I was stunned, my mind constantly replaying scenarios of my daughter being thrown into the sea.

The pain in my heart felt like a knife twisting.

"Primrose!Zoran jumped down without hesitation, scooping up the barely breathing Primrose.

"Serenity, you're going too far. You know damn well Primrose just had a baby and can't be exposed to the cold. What's the big idea pushing her into the water? You haven't given me a single kind look these past few days. I've cut you some slack because you just lost your baby, but that doesn't mean you can do whatever the hell you want. Enough is enough."

Zoran's gaze was unfamiliar, reminiscent of the night he married me. Yet gradually, as we spent time together, we grew to be more like a loving couple.

In an instant, all the pent-up grievances came flooding out, and I couldn't help but confront him.

"How did my baby die? Why didn't I even get to see her once? Why does everyone on the yacht claim they don't know anything? Why did you dismiss all the crew members? What are you trying to hide?"

Zoran let out a heavy sigh.

"Serenity, you're overthinking this. I just didn't want them to say the wrong thing and upset you. The baby wasn't just yours; I'm heartbroken too. Now that we have Melody, let's focus on loving her, okay?"

I shouted in rage:

"No! That's not it!"
