Hearing these words, I paused mid-step. Recalling my earlier suspicion, I turned to face her.
Seeing that I had stopped, Melody thought I might be willing to relent.
She hastily crawled forward a few steps on her knees, peeling off her protective suit.
Gritting her teeth, she said,
"That time on the surface, in the car with Faisal..."
Melody struggled to get the words out, but I understood her meaning.
She and Faisal had opened the car doors and stripped naked to fool around.
The search teams on the surface never even removed their helmets.
They avoided any contact between their bodies and the outside air.
Yet Melody and Faisal dared to get intimate under such conditions.
It's hard to say if they were ignorant or just reckless.
Sure enough, as Melody removed her clothes, I saw her skin was mottled with festering sores.
I couldn't imagine how they had managed to return to the residential area.
"Faisal and I are already infected. I know you must have a way to cure us!"
