Chapter 6

I awoke once again to a sea of white before my eyes.

The scent of disinfectant filled my nostrils.

I immediately realized I was in the quarantine area of the underground shelter.

My whole body relaxed with relief.

At least I had survived for now. As for whether I'd been infected, that was in the hands of fate.

I moved my body slightly, feeling sore all over.

No doubt an aftereffect of the day-long trek on foot earlier.

I slowly pushed myself up into a sitting position.

Looking around the isolation room of just a few square meters.

This wasn't my first time here.

Back when the underground shelter first organized search teams to go to the surface.

They couldn't be sure if those returning might be infected.

All personnel had to be observed in quarantine before returning to the residential area.

The rooms here were cramped, with space for just one person.

Like a coffin for the living.

"You're finally awake?"

Hearing a clear female voice, I looked up towards the doorway.
