She stood there with her big belly, her movements restricted.
This time, Fletcher wasn't by her side.
I was about to turn away and pretend I didn't know her, but she beat me to it and called out to me.
"Seraphina, what a coincidence!"
I turned around, raising an eyebrow with a slight smile.
"Quite the coincidence indeed. How's the baby?"
Jade caressed her belly, the sunlight hitting her cheeks, radiating gentleness.
I couldn't help but think that this child was born to be a sacrifice.
"He's a healthy sweetheart, but unfortunately..."
Jade paused, then continued, "Oh, by the way, Fletcher and I are getting married. Will you come to the wedding?"
It seems the Frost family has accepted reality. After all, the child in Jade's womb is now their only flesh and blood.
The tests showed it's a boy, and Mrs. Frost will do anything to ensure Jade delivers safely.
I put on an apologetic face.
"I'm sorry, I'm not really free."
