At Peter's house.
Gwen and Peter sat on the couch, with snacks Peter had bought earlier on the table, and a boring soap opera playing on the TV.
Peter lay on the couch, to be precise, on Gwen's lap.
"Peter, I'm sorry, and I know you're hurting, but what happened to Aunt Lisa is in the past. Those left behind can only move forward."
Peter nodded.
"I'm fine, Gwen. That A-Train will definitely get what's coming to him."
"Of course, uh... I mean, people like that don't live long."
"That's for sure."
As the two chatted, the TV suddenly cut to a news broadcast.
The female anchor, clearly unprepared for the sudden script, read while glancing at the teleprompter.
"Breaking news: A major explosion has occurred at the Vought International branch in New York City. Currently, two fatalities have been reported."
"The deceased are members of The Seven: The Deep and A-Train."
"According to internal sources at Vought, the explosion was caused by a superhuman misusing their abilities."
"Further details are still under investigation."
Gwen gasped.
"Peter, did you see that?!"
"A-Train is dead!!"
"The bastard who killed Aunt Lisa is dead!!"
Peter looked at Gwen and smiled slightly.
Then the two, who already knew the outcome, began their little performance!!
"Oh my God, I can't believe it!"
"Gwen, you were right!!"
"Tomorrow, I'll tell Uncle Ben and Aunt May the news."
Peter sat up, and the two hugged.
A few minutes later, they were lying on the same bed.
Gwen complained, "Why didn't you confess sooner?"
"Compared to that, I'm more worried about whether your dad will turn me into mincemeat tomorrow."
"If he finds out his daughter is lying in bed with me... I doubt I'll ever get a ride from him again."
Gwen smirked, "We didn't do anything. We didn't even take our clothes off. Even if he finds out, it's fine."
After saying this, Gwen closed her eyes.
She was exhausted.
She had spent the whole day rehearsing with the school band, and in the afternoon, she learned about Peter's loss.
She went straight to the hospital, then transformed into Spider-Gwen and traveled to another part of New York. After the fight, she came back.
The constant running around had worn her out.
She fell asleep in less than a minute after closing her eyes.
Compared to her, Peter wasn't much better.
Although he had gained superhuman strength, his body was still mortal.
The heavy consume had also left him feeling drained.
The two hugged and fell asleep soon after.
The next day.
Gwen planned to stay home with Peter, but after his repeated urging, she went to school to rehearse with the band.
Peter felt helpless.
Mainly because he had something to do that morning.
He had to go to Stark Industries.
Otto Octavius was still lying in a hospital bed in the UK, tied down with ropes. Although his mechanical arms had been severed, without the inhibitor chip, he remained a puppet to the arms.
Peter had tried to develop the chip himself.
But without professional equipment, creating the inhibitor chip was as difficult as handcrafting an atomic bomb.
This was something best left to Tony Stark.
Considering that the Punisher had saved him yesterday.
Tony should agree to help.
...
At 10 a.m.
Tony was lying in bed, eating a burger and drinking Coke.
Even though his $10,000 comforter was covered in grease, he didn't care.
This was the extravagance of a billionaire.
"I can't think of anything happier than lying in bed eating fried chicken."
"I love burgers."
Miss Pepper sighed helplessly.
"Tony, you haven't gotten out of bed since the press conference yesterday afternoon."
Tony took a big bite of his burger.
"You don't know what I went through in that cave. I love my bed, and no one's getting me out of it anytime soon."
Tony let out a long breath.
Lying on the soft Simmons mattress, he felt like it was all unreal.
As if everything was a dream!
The terrifying experiences of the past few days felt like a nightmare.
If it weren't for the reactor in his chest, he would have thought it was all just a dream.
Just then.
Pepper's phone rang.
After answering, the receptionist's voice came through.
"Miss Pepper, a Mr. Peter Parker is here to see you. Should I send him up?"
"Send him up right away."
Since the call was on speaker, Tony heard it too.
"Peter Parker? That high school kid? What does he want? Isn't the Punisher supposed to meet me?"
"Be polite. If Peter hadn't told the Punisher about your kidnapping, you'd be dead in the desert by now."
Tony looked at Pepper helplessly.
"Is that how you talk to the boss who pays your salary?"
"That's exactly how," Pepper shot back firmly.
