Chapter 0009: We Are the Good Guys

Chen Liuhe didn't ask Huang Million how he had managed to dig up so much information, nor did he inquire about how he had obtained these photos. Although he knew the process must have been perilous, in many cases, the result is what truly matters.

As he flipped through the stack of photos in his hand, the playful smile on Chen Liuhe's lips grew increasingly pronounced.

Zhou Yunkang, vice president of the Black Dragon Society, son-in-law of the society's president, Zhang Yongfu. Thanks to his relationship with Zhang Yongfu's only daughter, he had risen from a petty street thug to the position of vice president of the Black Dragon Society. By all accounts, he was a successful social climber.

It was this man who had long coveted Qin Ruohan's family entertainment venue and had been relentlessly pressuring her. Given his notorious womanizing tendencies, Chen Liuhe surmised that this scoundrel's ambitions likely extended beyond just seizing Qin Ruohan's business—he probably had designs on Qin Ruohan herself.

"In a certain sense, this guy is quite the talent," Chen Liuhe remarked mockingly.

Huang Million, revealing a set of yellowed teeth, chuckled, "Who says he isn't?"

After tossing the photos onto the table, Chen Liuhe pondered for a moment, then glanced at his silent phone. He let out a wry smile, thinking to himself that today was the third day—the deadline Zhou Yunkang had given Qin Ruohan. Logically, Qin Ruohan should be in a frantic state by now, yet surprisingly, she had been unusually quiet today. She hadn't even called him once.

Had she completely given up on him, abandoning any hope of clinging to him as a lifeline?

Well, since his younger sister had taken a liking to her, he naturally wouldn't let her suffer the same fate as his sister. With this thought, Chen Liuhe stuffed the stack of photos into his pocket and said to Huang Million, "Still able to move? If you can, come with me to take care of some business."

"At your command, Brother Liu. Even if I have to crawl, I'll follow you," Huang Million said, standing up with a wince as his wounds protested.

"Let's go. I'll take you to watch a good show. I just don't know if it's already started. In this play, we're the genuine good guys. Tonight, we'll take on the big bad guy," Chen Liuhe said, pushing his dilapidated tricycle out of the yard.

Huang Million, trailing behind, quipped, "The big bad guy's fate is either a gruesome death or being utterly subdued by our righteous aura."

Chen Liuhe, dressed in cheap clothes and flip-flops, pedaled the tricycle with one missing pedal, while Huang Million, looking only slightly better than a beggar and wrapped in bandages, sat in the cargo bed.

They weaved through the bustling night market, their appearance so striking that it drew sidelong glances from everyone they passed.

Chen Liuhe tried calling Qin Ruohan, but her phone was off. This made him frown slightly. It was likely that Qin Ruohan was in trouble, and he wasn't sure if he would make it in time.

At this moment, Chen Liuhe didn't feel much guilt or burden. If Qin Ruohan could hold out until he arrived, that would be her good fortune. If not, there was nothing he could do, and he wouldn't feel the slightest bit of remorse. They were strangers, after all. That he was willing to lend a hand was already a gesture of goodwill.

Instead of heading to Qin Ruohan's home, Chen Liuhe went straight to the entertainment venue she owned.

He had a rough understanding of the basic situation.

The "Golden Jade Hall" entertainment venue was located on a relatively bustling street in Bianzhou City. The venue wasn't particularly large or luxurious, falling into the mid-range category. It had five floors, offering karaoke, sauna and massage services, beauty treatments, and some simple recreational facilities.

When Chen Liuhe and Huang Million arrived, the parking lot in front of the venue was already full, mostly with mid-range cars, though there were a few Mercedes and BMWs as well. However, higher-end vehicles were noticeably absent.

The place seemed to be doing good business, Chen Liuhe thought. He glanced at the venue and smiled faintly. Although the venue was nothing special, it was still worth at least twenty to thirty million yuan. No wonder Qin Ruohan had refused to sell it to Zhou Yunkang for a mere two million.

Standing in front of the venue, Huang Million couldn't help but feel envious. He had never set foot in such a high-end place in his life. If he could go in and enjoy the company of the beautiful women inside, he'd be willing to sacrifice a few months of his life.

"Brother Liu, that's Zhou Yunkang's car," Huang Million said, pointing to a Mercedes-Benz van parked not far away.

"Are you sure?" Chen Liuhe asked.

Huang Million nodded confidently. "I followed him for two days. I wouldn't mistake his car. The license plate number is exactly the same."

Chen Liuhe smiled and led Huang Million into the venue with swagger.

The two of them didn't look like the type who could afford to patronize such a place. As soon as they entered the lobby, the security staff eyed them warily, as if expecting them to beg for money or start stealing.

The duo, thick-skinned as they were, paid no attention to the stares. Chen Liuhe simply didn't care, while Huang Million was used to such treatment.

Chen Liuhe, in his flip-flops, clacked his way to the front desk and asked the reasonably attractive woman in uniform, "I'm looking for your boss. Where is she?"

The woman, though clearly judging them by their appearance, maintained a semblance of professionalism. She looked somewhat surprised but still replied politely, "You're looking for our General Manager Qin?"

"Yes, I'm looking for Qin Ruohan," Chen Liuhe said with a lazy smile that was downright infuriating. After a pause, he added, "If you don't want to get scolded or fired later, I suggest you tell me where Qin Ruohan is."

He even added with utmost sincerity, "Really, I'm not lying."

If someone like Chen Liuhe claimed to have any connection with their elegant, aloof, and wealthy boss, the staff wouldn't believe it for a second. So, they didn't take his words seriously.

"I'm sorry, sir, but General Manager Qin is currently occupied and unavailable to meet guests. If you have urgent business with her, you can try calling her private number," the front desk woman said, though her eyes now betrayed a hint of impatience and mockery.

Chen Liuhe shook his head helplessly. "I already tried, but her phone is off. Are you sure you won't tell me where she is?"

"I'm sorry, sir, but I can't help you with that," the woman replied, her disdain now evident. A toad like him wanting to see General Manager Qin? If she let him upstairs, she'd probably be the one getting fired.

Chen Liuhe nodded. At this moment, the security guards who had been itching to intervene finally made their move, surrounding Chen Liuhe and Huang Million. "You two looking for trouble? Better think twice. Do you know where you are? If you're not here to spend money, get out now, or we'll have to throw you out," the security captain, a man in his thirties, said threateningly.

"I'm looking for Qin Ruohan. Where is she?" Chen Liuhe asked calmly, his smile unchanged.

"This place isn't for you. Get out now, you hear me? You want to see General Manager Qin? Why don't you take a piss and see what you look like first?" the security captain said rudely. Even if Chen Liuhe did have some connection with General Manager Qin, he wouldn't let him in. General Manager Qin was currently in a meeting with Zhou Yunkang from the Black Dragon Society, and he had to make sure no one disturbed them. If he could curry favor with Zhou Yunkang, his future would be set.

With his own selfish motives in mind, the security captain reached out to shove Chen Liuhe. He was a burly man, having served in the military for a few years, and looked quite formidable.

But before his hand could touch Chen Liuhe, Huang Million sprang into action. With an awkward flying kick, he struck the captain in the waist, sending him staggering.

"Brother Liu, go ahead! I'll hold them off!" Huang Million shouted, ignoring the blood seeping from his reopened wounds as he lunged at the security captain. He knew that once a fight broke out, there was no turning back. If they couldn't resolve this peacefully, they'd have to fight their way through.

"Damn it! Beat these two bastards to death!" the security captain roared. At his command, the five or six security guards who had been standing by immediately sprang into action. Working in a place like this, they were no strangers to violence. When they said they'd fight, they meant it.

"Ah, seeking death," Chen Liuhe muttered with a light shake of his head. He didn't move with lightning speed, nor did he exude an overwhelming aura. He simply walked lazily toward the guards who were rolling up their sleeves.

With a slight tilt of his head, he dodged a punch and accurately grabbed the attacker's wrist. With a gentle squeeze, the man let out a pig-like squeal as his wrist was dislocated.

At the same time, Chen Liuhe lifted his right leg and tapped another guard on the chest. Without any apparent force, the man collapsed to the ground, blood streaming from his head.

In just a few movements, Chen Liuhe had all the guards writhing on the ground, unable to get up.

Chen Liuhe, on the other hand, remained composed, his breathing steady.

All of this happened in less than half a minute, leaving the onlookers—both guests and staff—stunned.

Huang Million and the security captain were still grappling on the ground. Given Huang Million's fighting skills, he was no match for the captain and was being pummeled. But Huang Million was resilient. Seizing an opportunity, he bit down hard on the captain's neck, causing him to scream in pain.

Huang Million was the type who would fight to the death. He pulled out a dagger from his waist and pressed it against the captain's throat.

"Damn you! Move again, and I'll slit your throat!" Huang Million snarled.
