Snow sat in the hospital room, staring at the contract in his hands. The words blurred together, but his mind was elsewhere.
Ten years ago, he would have laughed at the idea of being offered anything less than the lead. Now, he was signing for second place.
He exhaled sharply, forcing himself to focus. "It doesn't matter. This is just a stepping stone. I'll prove them all wrong."
With that, he scribbled his signature and sealed his fate.
The next day, Snow arrived at the production office for the official introductions. The room buzzed with conversation as actors and staff mingled. Whispers followed him as he entered. Some recognized him. Most didn't.
At the center of the room stood Liam West. The male lead. Charismatic, confident, and one of the biggest names in the industry. His sharp eyes flickered with curiosity as he spotted Snow.
"Didn't expect to see you here," Liam remarked with a smirk. "I grew up watching your movies. You were a legend."
Snow met his gaze, expression unreadable. "Were?"
Liam shrugged, his smirk deepening. "Well, let's see if that title still fits."
Before Snow could respond, a woman's voice cut through the room.
"If we're all done with the nostalgia, let's focus on the present."
Snow turned and saw her—Aria Vale. The nation's sweetheart, the most beautiful actress of the current generation, and the film's female lead.
But more than that, Snow recognized the flicker of shock in her eyes. It was gone in an instant, replaced by a cold, unreadable expression.
What Snow didn't know was that Aria had once been the president of his fan club. As a teenager, she had adored him. Now, she acted as if he was just another co-star.
"Aria Vale," she introduced herself flatly, offering a polite nod. "It's an honor to work with you."
Snow studied her. "Likewise."
Before the conversation could continue, a hand clapped onto Snow's shoulder.
"So, after vanishing for ten years, you just waltz back in without even calling me first?"
Snow turned to see Ryan Carter, his former best friend and now the film's second male lead. Unlike the cold reception from others, Ryan's expression was a mix of amusement and irritation.
"You quit without a word, and now you're back just like that? Some friend you are."
Snow hesitated before offering a small smirk. "Guess I owe you a drink."
Ryan scoffed but grinned. "You owe me a hell of a lot more than that."
The atmosphere lightened, but Snow could still feel the weight of every gaze in the room. Some looked at him with curiosity, others with doubt.
One thing was clear—he had to prove himself all over again.
