"Found it!" he exclaimed.

Lin Xue'er grabbed it, her eyes glinting with greed. "Perfect. With this, I'll be the family heir."

Lin Wanqing sat up sharply, her tone frigid. "Xue'er, what are you doing?"

Caught off guard, Lin Xue'er faltered. "I… I just came to see you."

Lin Wanqing sneered. "Visiting me in the middle of the night? And helping yourself to my things?"

Lin Xue'er's temper flared. "Lin Wanqing, don't think you can outshine me just because you've gotten clever. This manual is rightfully mine!"

Lin Wanqing replied coolly, "The manual belongs to the family, not you alone. Your greed is shameless."

Murderous intent flashed in Lin Xue'er's eyes. "Then don't blame me for being merciless."

She signaled the man in black, who drew a dagger and lunged at Lin Wanqing.

Ready for this, Lin Wanqing dodged nimbly and struck his acupoints with acupuncture needles. He froze in place, unable to move.

Panicking, Lin Xue'er turned to flee. Lin Wanqing sprang forward, seizing her wrist. "Where are you going, Xue'er?"

Lin Xue'er thrashed. "Let me go, or I'll have Father punish you!"

Lin Wanqing laughed coldly. "Do you think Father will side with you or me?"

At that moment, footsteps approached. Old Master Lin and several clan elders stepped inside.

"What's happening here?" Old Master Lin roared.

Lin Wanqing released Lin Xue'er and bowed respectfully. "Grandfather, Xue'er broke into my room tonight, tried to steal the family manual, and even attempted to silence me."

Lin Xue'er protested frantically, "Grandfather, she's framing me!"

Old Master Lin eyed the man in black. "Who is this?"

Lin Wanqing freed the man's acupoints. He dropped to his knees, begging, "Sir, Miss Xue'er sent me."

Lin Xue'er's face drained of color as she crumpled to the ground.

Old Master Lin's fury erupted. "Xue'er, you've shamed me! From this day, you are expelled from the Lin family, never to return!"

Lin Xue'er sobbed, "Grandfather, I was wrong! Please forgive me!"

Unswayed, Old Master Lin waved her away, and she was dragged off.

Later, Lin Wanqing handed the manual back to Old Master Lin. He sighed deeply, "Wanqing, you've saved me and safeguarded our family's treasure. You are our blessing."

Lin Wanqing smiled. "Grandfather, it's my duty."

Old Master Lin nodded. "From now on, you are the Lin family's heir. I will teach you The Lin Family's Heart Method myself."

Elation filled Lin Wanqing's heart. She bowed deeply. "Thank you, Grandfather."
