A Day of Pain

Kai's school days were hard. At 19, he was often teased and bullied by his classmates. Since losing his parents at 15, he had no one to care for him. Every day, he felt small and unwanted.

Today, in the school washroom, a few classmates gathered around him. Aaron, the unofficial leader of the group, snatched Kai's lunch box from his trembling hands.

"Hey, Kai! Did you forget your lunch again?" Aaron said with a sneer.

Milo, another classmate, laughed and said, "No wonder you always look so weak!"

Darian added, "Maybe you should just do everything we tell you. You are nothing without us!"

Kai's heart pounded. With a soft voice he pleaded,

> "Please, just leave me alone."

One of his classmates stepped forward and punched him hard in the stomach. Kai cried out in pain,

> "Stop it… please!"

The bullies did not care. Their laughter filled the room. A teacher's voice came from down the hall,

> "Kai, stop this right now!"

but it was too late. With tears in his eyes and bruises forming, Kai ran out of the washroom and out of the school, feeling like he could not take the pain any longer.

As he ran along the street, he heard a teacher call,

> "Kai, wait—please, come back!"

But his heart was too heavy, and in his rush, he did not see the red light. A speeding truck hit him, and everything went dark as he fell.
