Chapter 13: The Siren's Lament
Lady Ayra's eyes welled up with tears as she approached Anthony Diaz, Roham's trusted friend and advisor. "Anthony, what's wrong with Roham?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.
Anthony's expression was guarded. "Don't sneak up on me, Ayra."
Ayra apologized, her brow furrowed. "I'm worried about Roham. He's been avoiding me, and it's breaking my heart."
Anthony's gaze seemed to hold a thousand secrets. "There's a lot you don't know, Ayra."
Ayra's curiosity was piqued. "What do you mean?"
Anthony's smile was enigmatic. "You'll understand soon enough."
With that, Anthony departed, leaving Ayra feeling bewildered and sorrowful. She retreated to her chambers, seeking solace in her siren voice.
As she sang, her emotions poured out in a haunting melody:
"Aah, ahh, ah, ahh, ahh, ah, ahh
What don't I know?
Secrets killing me
Shattered screen
Broken scream
I let the storm in
I'm way too broken
Let the ocean light my story
Bring back, bring him back
Ahh, ahh, ah, ahh, ah, ahh"
Unbeknownst to Ayra, her siren voice had shattered every glass window in the castle. The sound of shattering glass echoed through the halls, drawing the attention of the guards.
A guard rushed into the throne room, summoned by the Shadow God's wrath. "Who dares break my windows?" Roham roared.
Anthony's voice was calm. "The siren, Ayra."
Roham's whisper was barely audible, but it carried enough weight to silence the room. "Klause, summon Ayra to the throne room."
As Ayra entered the throne room, Roham's anger boiled over. "You will pay for your recklessness, Ayra. Take her to the execution room."
Ayra's world crumbled as she broke down in tears. Lady Alice, Roham's mother, attempted to intervene, but Roham's fury would not be swayed.
