confession of the heart

Chapter 26: "Confession of the Heart"

The office was bathed in the warm glow of sunset, the soft hum of computers and muted chatter creating a cozy atmosphere. Caleb, seated behind his desk, couldn't help but steal glances at Juilian, his personal assistant manager. Her raven hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of night, and her bright eyes sparkled as she worked.

Caleb's heart skipped a beat as he gathered his courage. He stood up, his movements fluid, and walked around the desk to stand before Juilian.

"Juilian," he said, his voice low and husky.

She looked up, her eyes locking onto his. "Yes, Caleb?"

Caleb's hands trembled slightly as he reached out to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. "I wanted to tell you something," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Juilian's eyes never left his, her face tilted upward in anticipation.

Caleb took a deep breath. "I think I might be falling in love with you, Juilian."

The room seemed to hold its breath as Juilian's face transformed, a soft smile spreading across her lips. "I think I might feel the same way, Caleb," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

As they shared a tender moment, a figure watched from the shadows, her eyes blazing with anger and heartbreak. Theresa V, or Madison, had been secretly in love with Caleb for what felt like an eternity.

How could he fall for a human, a mere mortal, when he could have had a siren like her? The thought seethed in her mind like a festering wound.

Theresa V's face twisted in a snarl as she stormed out of the office, her mind racing with dark plans and schemes. She would not let Caleb and Juilian's love flourish without a fight.

The sound of her heels clicking on the floor echoed through the office, a stark contrast to the warmth and love that had filled the air just moments before.
