"What was that?" Everyone stared gravely in the direction where the Soul Master had disappeared.
Vega's expression was particularly ugly, as it was one of his subordinates who had met with misfortune.
"Maybe… it's that Eyeless Snake," Norbert guessed. "The last time I saw it, it was tracking the Windstride Tiger."
"Yan Jin…" Amon said softly.
"Understood." Yan Jin took a step forward, rolling lava churning. "Volcanic Barrage!"
One after another, magma balls, propelled by her second Soul Ring ability, flew towards the bushes ahead.
Scattered lava ignited the trees, and in an instant, a raging fire burned, threatening to spread outwards.
"Um…" Bi Da'er said hesitantly, "Isn't setting the mountain on fire not very good?"
"It's fine… there are so many fire-attribute Soul Beasts in the forest, yet forest fires are almost nonexistent. Soul Beasts will instinctively protect their habitat and will extinguish the fire if it's not too large.
"For us, this is just a resource acquisition point, but for them, it's their home where they depend on to survive.
"Because it's located in a volcanic area, the Ironheart Mountains don't have very continuous forests; they're just small patches. We don't have to worry about it causing too much destruction.
"Moreover, the forest has a self-regulating mechanism. When there's too much fire element concentrated in one area, water elements will gather to counteract the negative effects of excessive fire.
"Besides, Yan Jin's battle in the forest is bound to cause some damage anyway, so this is just doing it in advance."
Amon had a gentle smile on his face, but the mercenaries beside him felt that smile was colder than ice.
Suddenly, a surge of Soul Power erupted from the bushes, and the soil on the ground seemed to come to life, enveloping the burning trees and extinguishing the flames.
A huge white-scaled serpent slowly extended its upper body from a branch on one side that had not yet been affected by the fire.
It had no eyes, and two backward-curving horns grew on its head. Its mouth was black, and its scales were snow-white, but the shape of these scales was very strange, like twisted worms.
The corners of Amon's mouth curved up slightly; this was his target.
"Eyeless Snake…" Kadelong frowned. "Isn't this… a little too big?"
After his reminder, the others suddenly realized how huge the part of the snake's body that was extended was. More of it was hidden in the canopy, making it difficult to see clearly, but its size definitely exceeded ten meters.
The Eyeless Snake increases by two meters every thousand years, which means that this snake has exceeded expectations.
"Still fighting?" Bi Da'er asked.
If they couldn't absorb the Soul Ring if it exceeded the age limit, then hunting it would be useless and just a waste of effort.
"Now it's not a question of whether we want to fight or not, but that this guy has no intention of letting us go… it sees us as prey!" Vega said with a grave expression.
"Perfect, I don't intend to let it go either… still within my hunting range," Amon adjusted his monocle and said slowly.
The Eyeless Snake's mouth opened slightly, as if showing a mocking smile to Vega and the others.
It slowly crawled down from the canopy, its serpentine body winding and swimming, eerie yet beautiful.
When they saw its full appearance, the mercenaries and Bi Da'er couldn't help but gasp.
The Eyeless Snake was a full eighteen or nineteen meters long, very close to a ten-thousand-year Soul Beast!
"Didn't you say it was just a five-thousand-year one? Even if there's a margin of error in your estimate, this is too much of a difference, right?" Vega roared at Norbert with anger.
Norbert was also frightened by the Eyeless Snake, and he stammered, "I… I… the one I saw last time shouldn't have been this big."
"Shouldn't?"
"Bullshit, open your eyes and look, is that what you call shouldn't be this big?"
"You're going to be the death of us!"
"Everyone, don't panic yet. There are so many of us; we may not be afraid of it if we join forces," Bi Da'er shouted, trying to stabilize morale.
With such a large team, dealing with a Soul Beast comparable to a Soul King level was not a problem with good coordination, but the trouble was that most people had lost their will to fight when they saw it.
(Soul King: 50-60)
Even Bi Da'er himself was considering whether to run away directly.
Anyway, he just needed to run faster than his teammates…
There were still fourteen Soul Grandmasters; he certainly wouldn't be the last one!
However, he quickly abandoned this idea. This was in the forest, and running away would only lead to them being defeated one by one. The Eyeless Snake was a Soul Beast known for its perception and agility. If it was determined to hunt them down, there was no way to escape.
"Don't think about running away alone. You should have prepared and learned about what kind of Soul Beast the Eyeless Snake is before coming here. In this vast forest, we can't get rid of its tracking at all."
Leiqi and Koman's eyes flickered, and they exchanged glances, adopting a fighting stance, agreeing with Bi Da'er's words.
"Damn beast," Vega cursed in a low voice, then had his Soul Grandmasters prepare to meet the enemy.
The Eyeless Snake slowly approached, attempting to make its opponents give up on staying together through its ever-increasing pressure.
Before it could make further threats, it suddenly stopped its body, swinging its upper body to one side like a pendulum, using the middle of its body as a fulcrum.
A bolt of lightning grazed its body, striking the ground diagonally, creating a patch of scorched earth.
The mercenaries glanced at Lei Yin in surprise; they didn't expect this adolescent boy to dare to take the initiative.
Amon, however, noticed a trace of the Eyeless Snake's secrets from the previous dodge.
He saw clearly that when the white-scaled serpent dodged, Lei Yin hadn't even attacked yet!
It seemed like Lei Yin attacked, and then it dodged, but in reality, it made the evasive action first, and then Lei Yin launched the attack.
It can probably predict the opponent's actions half a second or a second in advance!
With Lei Yin as an example, the mercenaries also revealed their Martial Souls one by one and launched an attack. They didn't think they were even inferior to a child.
To everyone's surprise, the Eyeless Snake, with agility completely disproportionate to its huge size, perfectly dodged all attacks, without even a single unnecessary movement.
Seeing this scene, the solemnity on everyone's faces deepened.
The Eyeless Snake wanted to continue approaching, but a burning pain came from its flank. It opened its mouth wide and let out a silent roar, reflexively twisting its body and moving several meters to the other side.
"Its skin is really thick." Yan Jin stood beside it, looking at the burn on its abdomen, dissatisfied with the results she had caused.
The Eyeless Snake did not attack the human who dared to approach it. Instead, it moved horizontally a long distance, coiling its body and adopting a defensive posture.
Its not-so-intelligent brain fell into deep confusion. It should have been able to "see" all the dangers that were unfavorable to itself one second later, so as to respond in advance, but it did not foresee Yan Jin's actions just now.
This made it feel apprehensive.
In fact, Amon had cooperated. When Yan Jin rushed over, he launched "Deception" on the Eyeless Snake, causing its thinking to stagnate and breaking the "prediction," which allowed Yan Jin to succeed.
The mercenaries couldn't believe their eyes. How dare she just run over and punch it? This was an Eyeless Snake close to the ten-thousand-year level!
They were frightened just looking at it from a distance. Wasn't this little girl afraid at all?
The facts proved that Yan Jin was really not afraid; she was really brave!
Rotating her wrist, Yan Jin rushed straight forward.
