Kael and Aelyth moved.
No hesitation. No second-guessing. The Eradicator wasn't something they could fight—not yet.
Their escape wasn't about outrunning it. That was impossible.
It was about disrupting its directives.
The ruins around them blurred as they moved, Aelyth leading the way with precise, calculated steps. Kael didn't ask where they were going—he simply followed.
The Mark of Aetheris pulsed, a quiet whisper threading through his mind. The same name repeated over and over.
Veyrith's Fall.
They passed through the shattered remnants of what was once a grand structure, its architecture unlike anything Kael had ever seen.
Even in the middle of their escape, he couldn't ignore the feeling in his gut.
This place, these ruins—they were part of something much larger.
Aelyth suddenly came to a halt. "We're here."
Kael skidded to a stop, glancing ahead. At first, he saw nothing but the broken remnants of a courtyard. Then he noticed it—
A gateway.
Not a door, not an archway. Something else.
It was carved from an unknown material, standing tall despite the destruction around it. Faint sigils pulsed along its surface, etched in a language Kael didn't recognize—but somehow understood.
Aetheric Transit Point: Designation—Veyrith.
Kael's heart pounded. It was real.
Aelyth wasted no time, stepping forward. "This is the only way we're getting out of here alive."
Kael hesitated. "Where exactly does it take us?"
Aelyth's golden eyes met his.
"To the past."
Kael's breath caught.
Aelyth turned back to the gateway, reaching out. Their hand hovered over the sigils—then pressed against them.
The symbols flared to life.
The air around them shuddered.
Behind them, Kael felt a shift—the Eradicator had moved.
It had found them.
Kael didn't hesitate. He stepped forward.
The world bent—
—And then they were gone.
