Chapter 22: Interstellar Departure

The Community Observatory intercepts a pulsed signal from Centaurus, which is decoded by Xiaoman's texture and found to be a distress code from Dr. Lin's frozen brain. Chu Yun assembles a modified spaceship at the rocket base and builds the shell of the Starfire from the remains of the mecha. Dr. Shen develops a vaccine for space adaptation, but discovers glowing patterns on the arms of the injectors.

Su discovers a new origami boat in her daughter's school bag, and when the sails are unfolded, a map of the back of the moon is displayed. When Xiaoman touches the map, the energy of the pattern activates the ship's engine, and the fuel gauge shows "unlimited energy" - derived from Xiaoman's purification ability.

The first flight team is piloted by Chu Yun, navigated by Xiaoman, and escorted by Su Wanqing. When crossing the atmosphere, the mecha core suddenly takes over the control system and changes the destination to the dark side of the moon. The moment the landing module touches down, the radar shows a giant mechanical body's heartbeat a thousand meters underground.

Dr. Shen discovers an anomaly in the ground command center: a sample of lunar dust automatically arranges itself into a community miniature model. Mann uses ripple energy to cut through the rock, drilling out the walls of a tunnel that turns out to be embedded with the cryopods of the residents who disappeared seven years ago.

In the center of the underground base hovers Dr. Lin's brain, connected to hundreds of mechanical tentacles. The brain opens its mechanical eyes when Su Wanqing cuts off the tentacles, "You are my best seeders." Chu Yun initiates the ship's self-destruct sequence, only to be stopped by Xiao Man with ripple energy - she senses the real Dr. Lin's consciousness trapped inside the brain.

Dr. Shen remotely cracks the shielding system and releases the resident consciousness body in the cryo-pod. Xiao Man injects purification energy into the brain, and the mechanical tentacles instantly crystallize. The moon base begins to collapse, and the mecha core suddenly pops out of the escape pod.

The team establishes a temporary base on the moon and builds a shield with the crystallized mechanical tentacles. Mann seals Dr. Lin's brain into a crystal and discovers that it resonates with Earth's energy towers. Chu Yun modifies the lunar rover into a mining mech, and Dr. Shen grows metal crops in the crater.

On the return voyage, Su Wanqing discovers an additional unknown device in the ship's cargo hold - a warp engine shaped like an origami boat. Xiaoman reaches out to the starry sky, and ripple energy paints a new course map outside the porthole.
