Chapter 35: The Newborn Era

The Federation established a civilization museum on Earth, and in the center of the exhibition hall was the sealed metal ring. Chu Yun serves as a security consultant, and his daily patrols stop in front of Su Wanqing's mecha display case. Dr. Shen publishes The Reincarnation Chronicles, which reveals that Dr. Lin initially developed the consciousness uploading technology to treat his daughter's acromegaly.

Xiao Man teaches interstellar history at a community school, and two group photos hang in the classroom: one of the battle team from seven years ago, and the other of representatives of all civilizations in the Federation. Between classes there are always kids pointing at the photos and asking, "Why is that glowing aunt holding a little baby?"

The remnants of the interstellar pirates surrendered to the Federation, and the modified pirate ships became an intergalactic courier fleet. The offspring of the intermarriage between the Mechanical Beasts and the Crystal Race help out on the farms, their metallic scales changing color with the seasons. The time stabilizer developed by Dr. Shen is mass-produced and marketed, and the wristwatch style is a modified version of the metal ring.

One day, Chu Yun picks up the rusty pocket watch at the old lab site. The photo on the inside of the watch cover was no longer of Dr. Lin's father and daughter, but a group photo of Su Wanqing's family of three. When he wiped the dial, the minute hand suddenly turned counterclockwise.

The pocket watch teleports Chu Yun to an untampered timeline: the Hongjun system is running smoothly, and Dr. Lin's daughter grows up healthy and becomes an astronaut. Su Wanqing's husband works as a doctor in a community clinic, and Xiaoman participates in a science and technology exhibition as an ordinary student. Chu Yun uses the remnants of his robotic arm to carve a warning tablet, the inscription of which can only be deciphered by members of the Interstellar Federation.

After returning to the present world, Chu Yun puts the pocket watch into the memorial hall. While showing the students around, Xiaoman discovers that the tablet projects an interstellar map at certain angles. Dr. Shen finds encrypted entries in the stabilizer logs: reincarnation terminates, sowing eternity.

At the Federation's third anniversary celebration, representatives of all civilizations jointly launched the "Eternal Watch" program. All the metal rings were transformed into intergalactic eco-capsule, carrying Earth crops and interstellar gene pools. When Xiaoman pushes the launch button, his wrist mark burns slightly - the last temperature Dr. Lin left in the universe.

Chu Yun welcomes the first alien students to his farm and teaches them to graft crystal apples with a robotic arm. The title page of Dr. Shen's new book bears a close-up of Su Wanqing's mecha's hand, and the light scar that once held a sword is gently encircling the Earth. At nightfall, all the starships light up their navigation lights at the same time, writing two centuries of answers in the galaxy:

Live, and live better.
