At the Sajyou family's magic workshop.
"The simple theory is this: combining Summoning Magecraft and Elemental Magecraft turns random summoning into summoning specific entities."
In front of a chalkboard, Naoki, now a teacher, was instructing Ayaka on the basics of Summoning Magecraft.
"My method involves infusing the summoned fairy mutation into my body, making me a half-fairy or half-spirit-like being, allowing me to control corresponding Magecraft. You don't need to know that part; I'll handle it later."
"So, all I need to do is use this ritual circle to summon elemental fairies into your body, right?"
Ayaka reviewed her notes and the magic circle Naoki had just drawn on the floor.
As Naoki said, the theory was straightforward, clear enough even for Ayaka, who lacked much necromancy foundation. Elemental Magecraft was a basic lesson for every Magus, and Ayaka had mastered it, though she usually disliked using such clunky Magecraft.
Closing her notebook, Ayaka approached the magic circle: "Then… should I try now?"
No matter the Magecraft, once the theory was clear, the rest was practice and skill accumulation. With Naoki's theoretical explanation, Ayaka felt she could give it a shot.
(Just summon something first.)
Being in a magic workshop, catalysts needed for Summoning Magecraft were easy to find. Though older catalysts could summon stronger fairies, this was her first attempt, so a simple one would do.
Placing the catalyst at the circle's center, Ayaka chanted the incantation.
"O fairies of another world, in the name of Sajyou Ayaka, I invite you to the star's surface to revel…"
*BUZZ!*
After just the first line, the magic circle glowed. A transparent, jelly-like tentacle emerged, wrapping around the catalyst, trembling briefly before exploding.
*PLOP!*
Something slime-like appeared in the summoning circle.
Ayaka and Naoki were both stunned.
Did… it work?
"Naoki, this…"
"Don't look at me; I've never summoned something like this."
Think of what Naoki had summoned—elemental fairy mutations, light war chariots, giant water dragons, even a True Ancestor. Even for his first experiments, he used high-grade catalysts from the Mineralogy or Necromancy Departments. How could he have summoned something like this?
"Ayaka, can you feel a connection to it?"
"Mm… yes," Ayaka nodded. "There's a faint connection, and… it seems really angry? Uh… [Why is this world so filthy? Boring, boring, send me back quick]… something like that."
Good, classic fairy attitude. Though its appearance was odd, likely due to the weak catalyst, Ayaka had indeed summoned a fairy.
Naoki crouched, poking the slime fairy. He was curious about the traits of such a weak fairy mutation, having never seen one this feeble.
But with a single touch, the slime fairy trembled violently as if shocked, then—
*PZZZT!*
A water pistol shot from its body hit Naoki's face.
Hopping onto Ayaka's hand and making a few international friendly gestures at Naoki, the slime fairy plopped onto Ayaka's chest.
"Hey, Ayaka, what's that about?"
"[Don't touch me, you blond monkey. From now on, this kid's chest is my exclusive throne]… that's roughly what it means."
"Hoh hoh~ First time a fairy's dared talk to me like that, and such a bold one…"
Naoki yanked the slime fairy off Ayaka's chest, tossed it to the ground, and stomped it repeatedly, squashing it into a puddle and forcibly sending it back to the fairy world.
So weak yet so bold.
"Ayaka, keep going. This time, use a better catalyst."
"Alright."

Meanwhile, en route to the Sajyou residence.
"By the way, I haven't asked—how did you know Kouhai-kun was in this direction?" Aoko suddenly asked.
Ciel, walking ahead, paused briefly before smiling: "He's a primary focus for both the Church and the Mage's Association. Everyone's afraid he'll suddenly pull the moon down. He's a top-tier dangerous person. To monitor such a hazardous individual, both the Church and the Association sent people to watch him—right?"
"I'm the one watching him for the Church," Ciel meant.
"Kouhai-kun can't catch a break here either," Aoko sighed. She recalled Naoki's reason for coming here was causing a massive uproar elsewhere, too big to quell, so he came to hide temporarily.
Turns out, this wasn't hiding at all—the Church and the Association even sent people to monitor him.
But Aoko also felt she was growing more like Naoki, even in causing trouble for the Church and the Association. She was always targeted by both whenever she went somewhere.
The Association was fine—they just didn't talk nicely to her—but the Church genuinely hunted her.
"Just to be safe, what's he done here?"
"As far as I know… a few months ago in Fuyuki City, he summoned the moon, causing tremors and panic across most of Japan. Recently in Romania, there was a subspecies Holy Grail War. He leveled a hill overnight, nearly wiped out an entire Magus family, brought down an aerial fortress over Romania, controlled a light war chariot to shoot down a meteor, and repeatedly summoned the moon during it all."
"Oh, and last night, he demolished an entire cemetery. Truly outrageous."
Ciel listed Naoki's actions over the past six months like she had a catalog.
Hearing the examples, Aoko couldn't help but laugh: "Haha, that's the Kouhai-kun I know. If he lived quietly here for five years, he'd be a demon. I'm glad he's got that spirit."
"If you know him, please try to make him calm down. Cleaning up his messes is quite a hassle—we're here."
At the door with the Sajyou nameplate, Ciel stopped and pressed the doorbell.
[Someone's here… This is the Sajyou residence, who is it?]
"Sajyou? It's me, Ciel. I have something to discuss, and tell that little lover living with you—his old lover's here looking for him."
Ayaka: "!"
Aoko: "!"
