161: The Most Beautiful Jōnin in All of Konoha

"Lord Hokage..."

An ANBU member wearing an animal mask knelt respectfully on the ground, a hint of helplessness hidden deep within their eyes.

The Hokage before them was the newly appointed Fifth Hokage, the youngest in history.

Having just participated in the Chunin Exams, this Hokage was swiftly promoted due to several unbelievable military achievements and mysteriously powerful abilities.

But appointing someone who was clearly still a child as Hokage...was this truly wise? The Konoha elders' intentions were beyond this humble ANBU's comprehension.

Forget it, such matters were not for a low-ranking ANBU to speculate about.

Better to observe what this new Hokage would accomplish.

Meanwhile, the 'kid' referred to as Hokage stared blankly at the mountain of documents piled on his desk.

This was Natsuki, who had only agreed to become Hokage a few days prior.

Now, facing this overwhelming amount of paperwork, he felt a headache for the first time.

After all, Konoha had just endured a war.

Many areas were destroyed and needed rebuilding, and the streets even required replanning.

Then there was the defense against the Kumo and Iwa villages at the borders, as well as mission assignments for Konoha's ninja.

Everywhere was short-staffed.

No wonder the Fifth Hokage in the original story couldn't even spare anyone to retrieve Sasuke and had to rely on the Genin of the Konoha 12.

This was too hasty!

He shouldn't have agreed so quickly.

He only wanted to become Hokage to live out his dream of…well, becoming the Hokage, not to deal with administrative tasks.

Such trivial matters shouldn't even be requiring the Hokage's personal attention!

"Lord Hokage."

Yugao Uzuki, the ANBU who had been kneeling for over an hour, had to speak up again.

Could this new Hokage be trying to assert dominance?

He summoned her but remained silent, staring blankly at the documents for an hour and a half.

If it weren't for the fear of interrupting the Hokage's train of thought and years of disciplined ninja training, she would have spoken up long ago.

But now, her legs were numb, and the Hokage didn't seem to be pondering anything; he was simply spacing out.

She had to say something.

"Hmm?"

"Oh, you're here." The Hokage finally snapped out of it and slowly turned his gaze towards her.

His eyes, one gold, one blue, as pure as gems, exuded a captivating charm, making Yugao's heart pound.

Damn.

Although she had seen him from afar before, only now, observing him up close, did she realize how breathtakingly handsome this young Hokage was.

Perhaps the youngest and most handsome Hokage in history? Likely even more exceptional than the legendary "Yellow Flash," the Fourth Hokage.

"By the way, what was it that I called you here for?" Natsuki, looking at the ANBU with the beautiful long purple hair, was also slightly surprised.

He hadn't expected a rare female ANBU to arrive.

And a ninja with long purple hair...what was her name in the original story? He racked his brain but couldn't recall.

Losing interest, he waved his hand dismissively. "Forget it, you're dismissed."

The Fifth Hokage's words reached Yugao's ears just as she was feeling a surge of anticipation.

Instantly, she was utterly dumbfounded.

Had she been kneeling for nothing for the past hour and a half? Was this new Hokage just putting on airs?

Despite her inner complaints, years of ANBU training kept her demeanor respectful.

She nodded and turned, and was about to use the Body Flicker Technique to leave.

"Oh, I remember now," the young Hokage called out from behind.

"Go and get my sister." He added, as if afraid she wouldn't know who he meant, "The most beautiful Jōnin in all of Konoha, Kurenai."

Yugao stumbled, nearly twisting her back. The most beautiful Jōnin in Konoha? This kid had some nerve.

But after a moment's thought, Konoha did have few few female Jōnin, even fewer Special Jōnin.

Kurenai was indeed considered beautiful; however, Yugao wouldn't concede that she was the most beautiful.

She didn't think she was any less attractive than Kurenai.

Unfortunately, she didn't have a younger brother who could become Hokage. Her own lover, Hayate Gekko, had died at the dispicable hands of Orochimaru or his lackey.

"Yes!" Yugao replied, a trace of resentment in her voice.

Bringing two fingers together, she channeled chakra into her feet, activating the Body Flicker Technique.

In an instant, she transformed into a puff of smoke and vanished.

Just as she disappeared, Natsuki's voice called out again. "Oh, right. One more thing."

"Summon the Hokage advisors, Homura and Koharu, as well."

BAM!

Yugao slammed into the wall beside the office door.

The Body Flicker Technique drastically increased speed to a level imperceptible to the naked eye.

Hokage's additional instructions had come too suddenly, leaving her with no time to react. Her mask cracked, and she stumbled backward, landing on the floor.

"Uh, are you a new ANBU?" Natsuki asked, adopting a condescending Hokage-like tone.

"Why are you so clumsy and slow-witted? You couldn't walk straight out the door and ran into a wall instead? How did you even pass the ANBU selection process? Did you cheat? This is a very serious matter."

"...

"Isn't it because... because you...couldn't you give all your instructions at once?!" Yugao finally snapped, clutching her nose and glaring back at Natsuki.

"And I am a fully qualified Jōnin, having completed multiple S-rank missions! I also passed the selection process fair and square to become an ANBU!"

Tears welled up in the purple-haired girl's beautiful eyes. Her eyes held both pain and indignation.

Her fair skin flushed slightly red, making her as lovely as a flower.
