Chapter 54 : A darkness

The weather was playing tricks again–like a moody artist smearing dark paint across a canvas that had started off in bright pastels. What had been a golden morning was now dull and heavy, the sky turning sullen without warning.

Dark clouds hovered over the university campus like a warning unsaid, and the sudden chill in the air sent students scattering from the open courtyards to the shelter of hallways and lecture rooms. All the laughter and chatter were dulled by the sudden drop in temperature.

Yerim moved briskly through the crowded corridor, her steps blending with the buzz of conversation and footsteps. Her mind was on the upcoming lecture, nothing more–until a voice rose behind her. A voice she was tired of hearing.
