Caleb's hatred for Kassia knew no bounds. She always acted like she was better than everyone else. He could agree that she was beautiful, with a physique that every guy would kill for. Half of the guys in school were always crushing on her. The painful part was that she didn't seem to know how beautiful she was. Caleb thought that was what made her so intimidating.
His grades were really lacking, and it might affect his chances in football. People thought that football players didn't need good grades, but they actually needed to work hard to maintain them, as they could impact their careers. It would be worse for Caleb, as he was the captain of the solo team, and he had to lead by example. Although they didn't study like everyone else due to their busy schedules and practices, they still tried to keep up their performance at an average level.
That's why when the teacher suggested that Kassia tutor him, Caleb was a bit relieved. If the coach found out his grades were suffering, he might bench him, and Caleb couldn't imagine life without football. The look on Kassia's face was somewhat annoying, as he felt like she didn't want to tutor him. Come to think of it, he had never done anything to upset her. He didn't think they had ever spoken before. She always kept to herself, and the only person he knew she talked to was her friend Christy. In his opinion, Christy was kind of lousy.
Caleb knew his brother would definitely not be happy if he learned about his grades in school. That's why he really had to make sure Kassia agreed to tutor him. He planned on making her an irresistible offer. She did look like someone who needed money - her outfit was worn out, and her hair looked like a bird's nest. Caleb felt that with proper maintenance, her beauty would eventually shine through and surprise everyone.
He had managed to get her number from her friend Christy, and he thought he'd message her later. Time flew by after practice, and Caleb went home. Christina, their head chef, had already prepared dinner for him. He thought to himself, "She's an absolute best."
Caleb went to his room to freshen up. It was already late, and he knew his brother, Cain, would be home soon. He ate his dinner and then went to sit in the living room. He decided it was time to chat with Kassia, so he picked up his phone and started typing a message.
Caleb: What's up, Shorty?
Kassia: Sorry, who is this?
Caleb: Your boyfriend, of course. When are you going to start tutoring me?
Kassia: Oh, Caleb, I am still thinking about it. I haven't decided yet. And how did you get my number?
Caleb: How about I give you $20? Is that enough to change your mind?
Kassia: We can study three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Is that okay with you?
Caleb: New money was going to change your mind, yes, it's okay by me. But can we start next week?
Kassia: Yes, it's fine. And you're still not answering me - who gave you my number?
Caleb: Don't worry your pretty head about it.
Kassia: The only person I know who has my number is my best friend Christy, but I doubt she would give it to you.
Caleb: You clearly don't know your friend as well as you thought.
Kassia: So, she's the one who gave you my number... hmm. I will have to speak to her.
Caleb: That's not my problem. Be careful of your inner circle, then I just might turn on you one day.
Kassia: Anyway, I don't have time. I have lots of things to do. Good night.
