Chapter 11: The Subway Horror Incident

Chapter 11: The Subway Horror Incident

The subway was in the middle of the tunnel when it suddenly began to slow down.

A wave of exclamations spread through the car, quickly turning into chaos.

"What's happening? Why did the subway stop?"

"Oh no, are we going to get hit by another train?"

"It's fine!" someone tried to reassure the others. "The subway is controlled by signals. When one train stops, the system alerts the others to slow down or stop. There won't be a collision!"

But before the words had even settled, the train—almost at a stop—suddenly picked up speed again.

And then, inexplicably, it began moving in the opposite direction.

The panic escalated instantly. Even those familiar with the subway's operational principles turned pale.

Sure, the trains were controlled by signals, but this—a train barreling backward at high speed—was something no safety system had accounted for. There wouldn't be enough time for another train to avoid a crash.

Xiao Cheng quickly grasped the gravity of the situation. Whoever was behind this had planned meticulously. If their original attack failed, they would take control of the train, reverse its course, and cause a catastrophic collision.

He glanced at the policemen nearby, who were still frozen in shock. "Those guys are gangsters. I took them down—handle them. I'll take care of the train."

The officers snapped out of their daze, looking at Xiao Cheng in disbelief. Who is this guy, giving us orders?

But Xiao Cheng had no time to explain. Leaving the unconscious criminals behind, he pushed forward, racing toward the cockpit.

He didn't need to think twice—someone had taken control of the train. Otherwise, there was no way it would have stopped in the middle of the tunnel and then reversed.

"Move! Let me through!" he shouted, but in the midst of the chaos, no one paid attention.

Passengers were panicking, pushing and shoving, some screaming, others frozen in fear. It was complete mayhem.

Xiao Cheng clenched his jaw, his gaze sharpening. There was no time for courtesy.

He forced his way through, using his strength to push people aside, clearing a path toward the cockpit.

"Who pushed me?!"

"Ouch, watch it!"

"Hey, do you wanna kill someone?!"

Annoyed complaints rang out, but Xiao Cheng didn't care. He bulldozed through the crowd, his eyes locked on his target.

Finally, he reached the cockpit.

It was locked—standard protocol to prevent passengers from interfering with the driver.

But that was hardly an obstacle for Xiao Cheng.

Without hesitation, he kicked the door.

BANG!

The metal dented inward.

Passengers nearby gasped.

"Is this guy even human?!"

"Did he just kick a steel door like paper?"

Xiao Cheng shot them a glare. "Move!"

"Y-yes! Of course!" The onlookers scrambled away, afraid to anger him.

He didn't waste another second.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

With a final, thunderous crash, the door was ripped open.

The sight inside sent a chill down his spine.

The real subway driver lay unconscious on the floor.

At the controls stood a man—one of the gangsters.

The attacker barely had time to react before Xiao Cheng lunged.

The man's eyes widened in shock at Xiao Cheng's unnatural speed.

But it was too late.

CRACK!

One hit—down.

The others in the cockpit turned, pulling weapons, but Xiao Cheng was faster.

Three moves.

Three bodies hit the ground.

The last gangster, realizing he was no match, pulled a gun.

He fired.

BANG!

But Xiao Cheng had already dodged.

The attacker fired again. Missed.

Again. Missed.

"W-what the hell?! Is this guy just lucky?!"

But luck had nothing to do with it.

Before the man could fire another shot, Xiao Cheng was on him.

One punch.

The gunman collapsed.

Silence.

The gangsters were all neutralized.

But Xiao Cheng didn't have time to breathe.

The screeching alarm on the control panel reminded him:

They were 30 seconds from collision.

His hands flew across the controls, assessing the speed, brakes, and emergency protocols.

The good news? The train was slowing down.

The bad news? It wasn't enough.

Xiao Cheng's mind raced. He knew every inch of the subway system. There had to be a way out.

There!

A desperate solution flashed in his mind.

He acted immediately.

---

In the passenger compartment, the terrified commuters held their breath.

They could hear it now.

Another train.

Rushing toward them.

"It's coming straight for us!"

Panic surged again. Some clung to their seats. Others prayed.

The roar of the oncoming train grew louder.

Then—a sudden jolt.

The subway lurched.

The passengers screamed as they were thrown forward.

Some were flung against the walls.

The train's speed plummeted.

"Wh-what's happening?!"

"Look! It's slowing down!"

The passengers scrambled to the windows.

It was true.

The subway had decelerated at an impossible speed, far faster than normal braking.

"We're going to be okay!" someone shouted in relief.

But just then—

"Wait! Listen! Do you hear that?!"

A chilling silence fell.

And then—

The roar of the other train.

It was still coming.

The passengers froze.

Two trains.

Both slowing.

But would it be enough?

The sound of steel on steel screeched through the tunnel.

They were seconds away from impact.

Everyone braced.

And then—

A final, massive jolt.

Everything shook.

And then—

Silence.

The two trains stopped.

Inches apart.

The passengers stared in stunned disbelief.

They were alive.

---

Xiao Cheng exhaled, his hands still gripping the controls.

It had worked.

He had stopped the train.

The passengers had no idea just how close they had come to disaster.

But for now—

They were safe.
