"The Hero has been born!" It was a normal Saturday for the people in the world of Heraphus. At least, until all the priests uttered that exact line at the same time.
The birth of the Hero only meant one thing in this world. That a Demon Lord had already taken up sit and was about to begin the conquest of the world.
The world entered a state of unease and anxiety. The Hero has always defeated the Demon Lord; there was no problem there. But it always took time. Time for the demons to deal a heavy blow to humanity.
In the Alexarian Kingdom, the king sat on his throne and looked down at the blue haired boy kneeling before him and sighed heavily with sorrow and resignation in his eyes.
"I have arrived, Your Majesty." The boy said in a clear and crisp tone unbefitting of his age.
"There is no need to be so formal, Aland. No one is here except for you and me. And even if there were, you are my son so it is allowed." The 230th king of the Kingdom of Alexaria, Roland Alexaria, looked at his son and frowned a little.
"Do you feel overwhelmed by it? Do you feel the pressure of the title?" for many generations, most of the Heroes has always been chosen from their bloodline.
When the oracle came to him, it was a shock but he soon accepted it. On the surface at least.
'Why did it have to be him?' Roland thought as he looked Aland in the eyes. Pure and crystal clean but burning with the fire of justice unique to their blood.
"What do you want to do?" He knew what the boy would reply with but he had to ask anyways.
"If the demons come, will Cassie and the others be safe?" Aland looked at his father with eyes that were filled with maturity.
"No. I can guarantee you that." Roland did not sugarcoat the truth and gave it to his son.
"In that case, I'll fight. It is my job to protect them; as an older brother, as the Hero and… as the future king." Aland rose to his feet with those words.
"Good. Your training will begin in earnest tomorrow." Roland nodded and stood up from his throne and walked to his sixteen-year old son.
"I beg of you, Aland. No matter what, make sure you come home alive." Roland said and pulled the boy into a tight embrace.
"Yes. I will." Aland said with a calm smile on his face and hugged his father back.

In a dark cavern, a young girl with insect-like appendages stood on a rock. The floor was covered in magma and the air was extremely hot, but the girl seemed unaffected. She glared an invisible object that warped space around it with amusement and a bit of rage in her eyes.
"What are you trying to pull, Z?" The girl muttered as the mysterious object shot towards her. With a speed faster than the eyes could follow, it crashed into the rock and shattered it, kicking up magma in the process.
The girl emerged from the dust and lava and flipped numerous times in the air and gently touched down on the surface of the lava.
The surface rippled slightly as the girl adjusted on it and after nodding, satisfied with her balance, she looked at the object.
It was shapeless and colorless and if not for the fact that space warped in front of it, it would have been completely invisible.
"Looks like you're serious about selecting me." The girl frowned and the object saw its chance and zoomed at her.
"One punch!" The girl did not even flinch as her dainty arms swung at the object. As her fist came in contact with the warped space, the air split as an ear-rending explosion kicked up waves in the sea of lava and shook the cavern.
Nevertheless, the object was still unharmed and zoomed towards her at blinding speed.
"Star Magic – Superstar." The girl opened her mouth and starlight poured out from it and drowned the object in it but it simply broke out and continued its journey.
"I see. So physical attacks have little to no effect on you." The girl said with a light smirk and kicked off against the lava, shooting forward at the object.
Sparks filled the air as the two of them moved at incredible speeds, filling the air with shockwaves.
After an unknown amount of time passed, the two of them separated and put distance between each other.
"Huh. For a non-sentient being, you sure do pack some punch." The girl frowned and was about to continue fighting when a lightbulb appeared over her head.
"Okay, I'll do it." The girl said with a creepy smile on her face as lowered her body from the battle stance.
"I'll become the Demon Lord."

[You have levelled up]
Harold heard a voice in his head and looked up to the status window before him and smiled.
After escaping from the monsters, he recovered in secret and started experimenting with his newfound powers.
[Ghostly Manipulation] was a skill that allowed him to move objects without touching them. In a way, it was similar to telekinesis but its power was dependent on the gap between him and the target.
'Last time, it didn't work because my opponent was higher levelled than me.' Harold still found it difficult to move monsters with [Ghostly Manipulation] but he found a way around that.
"The greatest of humanities inventions, the trap!" Harold waved his hands at the small pit he had made that trapped an E-rank monster within it.
It was sporting numerous stone spikes in its body that had been thrown by Harold. The gist of the plan was quite simple.
After seeing that he could attract monsters by increasing his presence, he used [Ghostly Manipulation] to dig a pit and collect some hard, solid stone and sharpened it to the extreme.
Then, he found lone monsters and after a brief skirmish with them which, usually resulted in the loss of MP on his side, he lured them to the trap and killed them with the spikes.
And after going through the process five times, he had finally levelled up.
