CHAPTER 30

His fingers trailed up and down my thigh, slow and deliberate, like he had all the time in the world. My entire body tensed, my skin crawling under his touch.

Matteo chuckled, amused by my reaction.

“Relax,” he whispered, his lips grazing the shell of my ear. “Don’t worry, I won’t fuck you. Not today. I’m in a good mood.”

As if I should be thankful for his restraint.

His touch lingered for a second longer before he pulled away slightly, just as the sharp sound of a ringing phone filled the room.

My phone.

My heart stopped.

Matteo smirked, holding up the device, his silver eyes gleaming with satisfaction.

“Oh, look at that. It’s good old Garry.” He tapped the screen lightly with his finger. “Let’s see what he has to say.” He turned to me, his smirk widening. “Just don’t snitch on me unless you want him dead.”

I swallowed hard, trying to steady my breathing. I knew he wasn’t bluffing. Matteo never bluffed.
