CHAPTER 35

The air felt heavier, suffocating me in his presence. I wanted to believe this was some twisted nightmare, that at any moment, I would wake up safe in my bed. But the cold reality was that Matteo was right here, standing in front of me, his dark gaze drinking in every inch of my fear. He had come to my college, my safe space, as a special guest.

My nails dug into my palms as I fought the rising panic. Maybe I could scream. Maybe I could call for help, tell everyone that the so-called esteemed businessman standing in their midst was my stalker.

But who would believe me?

To them, he was a respectable CEO, a man of power and influence. If I stood up in that grand hall, trembling and accusing him of watching me, following me, breaking into my home, they would call me crazy. Desperate for attention.

I was trapped.
