She sat alone in the sitting room, listening to the faint ticking of the clock. It was too quiet now that Thea had left. Katherine scrolled through her phone aimlessly, but nothing really held her interest. Her eyes landed on the vase of lilies on the table, but even that couldn’t distract her from how restless she felt.
“This is ridiculous,” she said to herself, standing up. “I can’t just sit here doing nothing.”
She glanced at the hallway leading deeper into the penthouse. She hadn’t seen much of the place the last time she was here—too busy running out in a panic—but now, with time to kill, it didn’t seem like such a bad idea to take a look around.
