Chapter 16

No one knew how long the battle had lasted, but finally, Shirou, surrounded by puppets in the middle, stopped using his Wind Blades.

After looking closely, he saw that there wasn't a single tree standing where they fought. Even the rocks in the distance had been sliced to pieces, leaving no whole piece behind.

The destruction covered a whole kilometer.

Gasping for breath, Shiorou focused his gaze into the distance and saw Sosuke's figure.

Today was undoubtedly the worst day for Sosuke since his transmigration. His clothes were completely torn, covered in countless scratches.

Blood kept flowing from his body, and he had lost count of how many times he had been hit. Luckily, none of the wounds were fatal.

At first, when the wind blades weren't too dense, he could barely dodge them without getting hurt. But as the attacks got more intense, avoiding injury became increasingly difficult.

In the end, Sosuke had no choice but to take some hits while protecting his vital spots.

Even though he constantly moved away between himself and Shirou, he still couldn't completely evade the attacks.

He soon realized that some of these Wind Blades could actually change direction, looping back like a surprise attack.

Sosuke's worst injury was on his left hand, with a deep wound so intense that his bone was visible.

If he hadn't forcibly twisted his body midair using Geppo at the last moment, Sosuke's entire left hand might have been cut off.

Suddenly, just as he reached his limit, Sosuke raised his right hand, pointing his finger at him.

"Lightning Gun."

With a loud shout, a lightning bolt as thick as a finger shot out from Sosuke's index finger.

It was so fast that it was terrifying and even faster than his own speed in Thunder God Mode.

The exhausted Shirou saw him raise his hand and immediately summoned his puppets to block the attack... but it was too late.

A flash of blue light streaked through the air, and in the next moment, Shirou's forehead now had a finger-sized hole.

The Lightning Gun was the fastest technique in Sosuke's arsenal.

However, its power was relatively average, just enough to take down an unguarded puppet master.

If he had used this move earlier, Shirou's puppets would have blocked it easily, but now Shirou was completely exhausted, and Sosuke released this to finish him off.

As for Shirou's Thousand Blades of Wind, it completely changed the way Sosuke understood ninjutsu.

He never imagined ninjutsu could be used at such a powerful level. However, Sosuke speculated that this move was particularly effective against him.

If it were a shinobi who specialized in ninjutsu at the same high level, they could probably counter it with a large-scale Fire. Since fire beats wind, there was a good chance they could block it.

Sosuke was currently puzzled.

'How did Sakumo Hatake defeat this monster in the original story? This guy was a real Kage shinobi with real, unstoppable strength.'

In any case, Sosuke had now taken care of this threat for Sakumo. But after killing him, there was no doubt that old woman Chiyo would come after him for revenge.

After making sure Shirou was dead, Sosuke collapsed to the ground and could already feel his consciousness fading.

He could only pray that Sakumo would arrive in time. Otherwise, he would bleed out and die… and that would definitely be the most humiliating way for a transmigrator to go.

Luckily, it seemed like his prayers worked. In the next moment, Sakumo's figure appeared on the battlefield.

As soon as he arrived, his eyes immediately locked onto Shirou's distant corpse, and his expression became serious.

This was his long-time rival.

They had fought many times before, and neither had ever won. He couldn't believe that Sosuke had actually run into this guy.

But upon closer inspection, he noticed the hole in Shirou's forehead and realized that he had already stopped breathing.

Just as he was reeling from the shock of Shirou's death, a barely audible voice reached his ears.

"Take… me… back to Konoha… Tsunade… can save me…"

With those final words, Sosuke completely lost consciousness. It was only then that Sakumo finally noticed him lying on the ground in the distance.

Seeing the blood everywhere around him and the terrible injuries covering his body, Sakumo immediately understood he had won the battle, but he was now on the brink of death.

Without hesitation, Sakumo performed emergency treatment and managed to stop the bleeding in no time.

However, the terrifying damage on Sosuke's left hand was beyond what he could heal. Only a medical ninja could heal such an injury in a short amount of time.

Fortunately, as the leader of the border forces, Sakumo had the authority to send Sosuke back to Konoha immediately.
